high yellow?

hey just a question about normals and how some have a lot of yellow on there backs and some have just the brown. is there a difference? is it some type of morph thats so scuttle that we group it with the normals?

Normals just have a ton of variation. Until you breed it out and prove it is genetic, it is just a normal color phase.

Nothing special about them unless they are hets and you can prove it. And the only way to do that is to breed it. =)

High yellow normals can produce more high yellow normals, which in my opinion is a gene in itself. Much rather a high yellow normal than a dark brown one personally. ~Caylan.S.~

Yes, if you breed a Yellow Normal and a Normal you would get a 50% chance of one of those eggs being a Yellow Normal. And I believe would make one of the Normal baby's a het Yellow Normal. But if the Mom and Dad were Yellow Normals you would have a 100% chance of one of the eggs being a Yellow Normal. Correct me if I wrong on this.

Also assume Yellow Normal is a morph.

Yellow normal is not a morph. It is just a characteristic of some normals. Similarly to how a reduced pattern can sometimes produce reduced pattern babies. But it is not really co dominant, dominant or recessive.

I understand its not a Morph but wouldn't it still have the same characteristics of one and have its own specific gene?

no, it wouldn't work like a codominant, dominant, or recessive gene.

so than how would it be describe and carried through to others?
