Can BPs teeth penetrate a 'dish washing' kind of latex glove?

I've been reading around and it seems usually BPs biting incident happens on feeding time, so i'm thinking of wearing gloves on feeding time :D

yes, if the snake is mature enough, it doesn't take much to pierce those type gloves.

if your feeding f/t just get yourself a pair of long tongs......:D

If you've ever seen any of the pictures that some people have managed to get of a bp's teeth, you can see they pretty much resemble a bunch of tiny needles. Even the little guys have them, so I would think that no matter how short the teeth, being so needle like, they'd very easily go through any type of latex/rubber glove.
I've seen their teeth right up close and personal while watching them yawn, or eat, etc. and I've been tagged a few times now. So if you're thinking about using gloves for protection during feeding or something like that, it'd probably just be best to stick with a good pair of tongs, hand feeding is far from a good idea anyways as it puts your nice warm hand right there close to the food. And if wanting to use them just for reaching into the cage you could always just use a hook or something similar to move the snake around into a better position to pick it up without worry of being bitten. Anything short of leather gloves probably wouldn't do you much good when it comes to snake handling.

if your that afraid you need a new pet... Just joking, but tongues and keeping an eye on a snake will do... most important i think you need to let the snake know the difference between you and food. if my snake is jumpy i rub the back end away from the head to let them know i am there.

lol... i'm not so really afraid of the normal bite or warning strikes, i just dont like locking bites which they usually do during feeding feeding time. and i'm thinking of using the gloves together with the long tong. coz ive seen videos in youtube that even if they use tongs, the snake still chose to jump on the guys thumb and not the rat. i guess i'm just gonna use my motorcycle gloves xD

dont be afraid, its good experience to get bit atleast once, that way you can get over your fear of the lil guy!

I wouldn't wear latex gloves. Stuff can get stuck in the latex if it's thick enough, then you have to worry about how many of the BPs teeth you're going to break off while trying to get him/her to let go.

When it comes to feeding from tongs, if the snake struck at the food and still managed to miss and hit the guy's hand instead then it is likely he wasn't holding the food close enough to the snake's face. Expecting them to strike a long distance with 100% accuracy just isn't going to work.
If you just hold the food right in front of their face it's near impossible for them to manage to miss it and get your hand instead, the food should be close enough to block that from happening. There's no need to dangle it far away to get them to strike, mine get all of a couple inches of striking room at most.

While I don't think those gloves would ward off the teeth of a mature (or even juvi) ball python...they may very well disguise the scent and heat signature of your hands well enough that they would be less likely to be a target at feeding time...especially if you've got the added buffer that tongs provide.

While a feeding bite from a ball python is not exactly a life-threatening issue, I don't see any reason to encourage one either. If you're more comfortable with the gloves, I see no reason why you shouldn't wear them. With time and experience, you'll probably gain more confidence and be better at "reading" your animals and no longer need the gloves.
