How do you get an Axanthic Spider?
Just wondering how do you get an Axanthic Spider? Do you just breed a Axanthic to a Spider? Or do you have to breed these two and take the offspring and breed them back to the parents? Just a little confused! :confused:

You would need a spider het for axanthic, and a regular het axanthic. You could also get two spiders that are het for axanthic, or your original idea, which would be to get an axanthic and breed it to a spider, but then you would have to raise the babied to breed back to the parents.

Spiders are co-dom, so you can get spider off spring from just one spider-gened parent. Axanthics are recessive, and you need the parents to BOTH carry the axanthic gene in order for the trait to show. ("het-axanthic" means the animals carries the gene, but looks normal)
So...to get a spider/axanthic snake:
1. Spider x axanthic ...then breed the baby spiders back to their axanthic parent.
2. Buy a spider that is already het-axanthic and mate it to another axanthic or het-axanthic. In this case you could get the combo in the first clutch...but you could also miss the odds. There's never any guarantees.

To help speed things up I would reccomend getting a spider male and an Axanthic female. Put them together. Keep a male het axanthic and breed it back to the mother. Personally I would also keep all the female spider het axanthics and grow them up.

Doesn't this create 'Kinks' or 'Headwobble' etc ... ???
( or is it breeding the baby's like brother and sister ? )
i would go for Spider het axantic X axantic

There is always a chance. The head wobble is more spacific to the spider and not inbreeding. As long as you only cross breed a couple generations you should be ok. Im not sure what causes the kinks but I know that Carmel albinos get them more frequently then normal

Is the Spider co Dom or Dom ?? Because thier is no super form proven yet but thier have been all spider have been all spider clutches or something of that sort...

"Best" way to produce a Spider Axanthic would be breeding a Spider Het Axanthic to a Het Axanthic or a Spider Het Axanthic to an Axanthic.
The Spider het Axanthic to an Axanthic has pretty good odds at 1 in 4 of producing the combo, but there are no guarantees.....out of 18 eggs in 2 clutches of that breeding I only hit on one :( but that's better than none.

You breeding to your mother is alittle diffrent, inbreeding among reptiles hasnt shown itself to have the same adverse affects as inbreeding among mammals.
As for wobbles, that comes with the spider trait, not inbreeding.

It's completely different with reptiles (and most other wild animals for that matter). When it comes time to breed, most species don't get out a family tree to make sure they're not mating with a direct relative. :P

I just wasn't going to get into the semantics of dom vs co-dom...the basic idea was enough to point out that a spider x normal can yield spider offspring.
And for those mentioning it, I agree that the BEST way to get one is to breed a het-axanthic spider to a fully axanthic mate. But that's not always easy or inexpensive to come by.
