Where did you get your fan for your custom incubator?
I am going to be building another incubator shortly. I will be using 11" Heat tape for the heating element. However, I am having trouble finding a fan I should use. I have seen people use computer fans....

Where did you get your fan, and how did you wire it up? Can I wire it directly to the heat tape so that when the thermostat kicks on, the fan turns on while the tape is on....?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Radio Shack sells fans, both computer and 120v.

You might even get ahold of Wallace, I got an incubator "kit" from him.

I already had the cooler, he just sold me the "guts"

    Worth a thought.

How did you wire the fan? Was there any sort of fuse you had to wire into it so that the fan did not short?

No, the fans and lights were all wired together.

    There's no fuses.

    Right.

So could I use something like this:

And how would I wire it....? Could I just wire it directly to the end of a plug and plug it directly into the thermostat as you would when wiring heat tape?

    Make sense?

Youd want to have it/them on it's own plug so that it ran 24/7.

For that particular fan you'd need a small transformer to get the voltage down.

    HAHA

Any old 12V DC transformer will do.

Here's a quick one I found online, the Shack should sell them as well.

    ok cool.

I just need someone to make me a radio shack list of what I need to get the fan to plug-n-play. :)

    The incubator is 4x2x2'

I have the heat tape and the thermostat.

Now what do I need for the fan? Wattage? And what I need for transformer(size) etc.

Sorry...not so savvy when it comes to wiring this stuff up. :)

    Here http://www.coolerguys.com/ac120vfans.html

I have a fan that does not need wiring or adapter. :D
