how long do you brumate your corns?

Just wondering how long you corn breeders brumate your corns?
mine have been brumating for almost a month now and i just wanna pull them out n pair em!
i think i should at least keep em in there for atleast 2 months but.. what d you guys do?

I never cooled mine and paired them up as soon as spring was close :gj:.

Hmm what were you doing wrong? Post everything you did from the time the eggs were dropped until they died off.I will see if i can figure out what went wrong ;)

well im pretty sure its because the first year i ddnt even know she was pregnant and so by the time i found the eggs they may have been too dry already, the second year i found one clutch randomly laid and gettn dry, put em in the incubator n they died.. second cluthc that year i was in missouri while my soon to lay female was here in california,, so the people incharge of moving the egg box to the incubator ddnt know what they were doing,, im sure the vermiculite was much too dry..


well lemme sum it up, im pretty sure the reasons of the failures are either:
-not humid enough
-too hot! ( my house gets up to 95+) very probable
-sperm not fretile because of no brumation

i thinks a combonation of the three...
but i dont want to spend 250 on a cooling/heating incubator unless i have too... im going to try and breed my corns soon so they incubate when its cold, cuz else the incubator gets too hot.. that or.. i have a big walkin closet.. i think i should get a small air condidtioner thing for it to keep it cool enough and have the incubator in there..
im doing the precoess right this time..

I would say they were lost because of the humidity issue :(.My god how do you stand a 95 degree house? :O Its easy to candle the eggs to see if they are viable.If you take a small flashlight and shine it on one side you should be able to see thru it and see veins(if they are viable).In my opinion brumation is a waste of time.I never cooled mine and instead used that time to fatten my girld up more.I let my breeders tell me when they wanted to stop eating.

Were the eggs fertile? If they're fertile, not a sperm issue. Sounds to me like a humidity/temperature issue. My A/C went out this year in my house and it got into the 90's for several hours and killed all of my cornsnake eggs. Out of over a hundred eggs, only 6 hatched and survived.

If your house gets up to 95, the no way your eggs will make it. You need to figure a way to keep the eggs at 80-82 degrees.

I agree with the post(s) from before.....as far as brumating I don't do it either...I have the advantage of being in florida thats even at this time its low 80'e here, so I keep feeding and sizing them u...when spring comes around that it get warm again I feed them heavy again and when they first shed I introduce and its instant...

im pretty sure getting a small ac for my closet, on that i can set the temp to about 75 and then put the incubator in there will work, what do you think??

hmm well my corns should mate when i pair them after bru,ation and warm them right? this way i dont have to wait for spring and for it to get hot..

i brumate also because its healthy for them.. well ive heard it is haha

How do you live in the 90 degree rooms? :O As long as your incubator is around 80ish you should do fine.
