Corn returns after a year and a half!
My baby 6 month old corn escaped about a year and a half ago. Tried the usual food tricks, pulled the place apart etc, but no sign of him anywhere. With him being an Amel i thought he was probably picked off by a bird or cat.

Anyway I put the gas oven on to warm up today for some baked potatoes, opened the door to put them in....and there he was ! :O He hasn't grown much, but apart from being a bit dirty looks fairly healthy.

Mad....im guessing he lived off spiders insects, any bits behind the oven etc???

Anyway just had to dash and get some mice fluffs before they shut, so I'm gussing he will enjoy a decent meal for a change

I bet that was a shock!

My dad lost a rtb boa once, she was gone for 6 months I think, before they found her in the barn. She had a big fat lump in her; apparently she was eating rats out there.

I'm surprised he wasn't cooked before that!

I don't think he would have eaten too many insects. How big is he now?
I would check him for parasites though and put him in quarantine. It's possible he found some moles or young mice.

Incredible. Glad he is safely back where he belongs. I second the quarantine recommendation, and suggest a fecal test in case he picked up any parasites during his "absence."

Amazing!! :) I was just thinking the other day, while holding my baby corn snake, "there's no WAY I'd find him if he escaped." At least your story gives all of us hope, if we ever do lose a snake... so glad he returned safe & sound.

I work at Petsmart, and one day i wasn't working a corn snake got loose in the store and we couldn't find him anywhere. 3 weeks later we find him in a completely diferent room full of mice and hamsters and guinea pigs. He was way too small to eat any of them, so no worrries. Unfortunately we found him stuck to a rat trap and it tore off some of his scales. He died a few days later and we felt terrible. Little escape artists are really hard to find, but show up wen you least expect it.

Give him some water, hydration is a good thing. probably hasnt had easy access to water in awhile.

I would get a fecal exam done asap, and try feeding something small.

Thanks for the posts and advice and your stories (sorry the little corn didn't survive). Well he has stayed in his hide since i found him. He is the same size as when he disappeared, about the thickness of a pen,

Tried him with a mouse pinky, he ate ate it straight away. i soaked it in water to so he would get some extra fluid. He looks a bit dry, so will add a bit of moss in a while.

Will wait for him to poop for a fecal sample

will keep you informed , many thanks!!
