    spider and pied
    I have a female spider that when she gets big enough I would like to breed her,.... I was thinking a pied ball ... So I understand that I would have to breed back the off spring to the father pied, but what I am wondering would be .... what would the het spider/pied bred to the pied father.. look like... would it still carry the markings of the spider? or what would it appear like?

    you could get both normal pieds and spider pieds.

    Male = Piebald
    Female = Spider het. Piebald

    Offspring predicted as:

    ---------------------------------------------------
    25.00% Normal(het. Piebald)
    25.00% Piebald
    25.00% Spider (het. Piebald)
    25.00% Spider Piebald

    The first generation -- the ones heterozygous for both spider and pied -- will look like normals.

    Would the pied genes effect the markings of the spider like it does to the normal pied?

    Most of the times the Spied is all white with the spider marked head.

    Really? I just don't get the whole spider thing. There is so much mystery with this morph. IMO

    I was wrong in my previous post....since spider is a dominant gene, the spider x pied offspring will all look like spiders. I'm working with the clown gene (recessive) this season and was thinking clown when I wrote that post. Sorry! :oops:
