Help me

on september 24th i tried feeding my snake in her cage since everyone said that its not that bad.....:mad:

I left her alone for a bit so she would actually eat and when i came back she had a peice of repti bark half way in her mouth. When i tried to get it out she just swallowed the mouse faster and took it in... She hasnt pooped since. 12 days?? Usually she poops by now (it usually takes her a week). Ive fed her another mouse since then and was going to feed her today but idk if im going to now if it wont come out... Her tail looks kinda plump like she has to poop but idk.

ive been told that she will be ok but idk. She is small. Repti bark is kind of big for her to digest.

I would hold off on feeding her until she passes the other meals.
If she has a blockage it may make it worse?

Try soaking her in warm water(82 degrees) for about 30-45 minutes.
Massaging her belly softly may help as well, but if the blockage is sharp it could also cut her internally?

I don't know what I would do?
This is the reason why I only feed on Newspaper, even though I have been told feeding on Aspen and Cypress is fine.

I dont think theres anything hard near the end... I dont think its sharp either...

You wouldnt believe how much it sucks. EVERY time I fed her in the past i did it in an empty tank or a cardboard box. First time i feed her in her cage and this garbage....

First off...don't panic. Do you think they get fed in sterile plastic tubs in the wild? Their digestive systems can handle twigs and other small foreign objects. Some snakes can go weeks between poops...especially if they are young and growing. And they're not always regular as clockwork. Sometimes they poop more often, sometimes not.

You might try a soak in a shallow tub of luke-warm water...water that does not feel either warm or cold to the touch and is only deep enough to come about halfway up the sides of the snake. That often prompts a bowel movement. But either way...I wouldn't worry about it and go ahead and feed as planned.

If feeding in a separate container worked for you and you were comfortable with it, there's no reason to not continue doing so. If the snake doesn't care, and you like the routine, there's no reason you HAVE to change it. But if you like the idea of the convenience of feeding inside the enclosure...there's no need to let this put you off of it. ;)

:D i know that they eat other stuff in the wild. (just like TEMPERATURES and humidity CHANGE) But everytime someone talks about substrates they talk about impacting and all that... got me worried. :oops:

I know they can go for longer times with out going to the bathroom but i dont think she ever has. it usually is like clockwork.

I think ill try the bath thing... Is it supposed to prompt a bowel movement IN the bath or after??? :P

Im deffinatley feeding in a seperate container untill i move her into tubs then im probably going to use paper substrate and i wont worry about that...

More or less, they are talking about when it's more extreme--if the mouse is completely covered in substrate and it swallows all that... you might have a problem. One or two pieces is probably not going to hurt it.

I know how panic-inducing it could be, so if your snake will take it in a separate tank, I would do it if, for nothing else, my own peace of mind. =3

Impaction is very rare in BPs. It is more common in lizards.

If you notice a HARD lump near the vent, then try the bath.

The soak didnt do anything. :weirdface

Don't panic--ball pythons are seldom that 'regular' for their whole lives. They will often cease defecating when they're close to shedding. They save it up for right after the shed, lol.

Another trick...clean out the enclosure really well...sterilize everything and then put everything back in perfect, pristine order. You'll probably have a big ol' poop dropped in there within the hour. :P :P :P
