Help!!

Sorry for yelling for help but things turned really bad when I check on my 2 day old eggs this morning.

anywas..

I went to check on the temp for my 2 day old eggs and I found that the temp was 105 and then top 2 eggs looked like this...

I had the incubator set up for about 2 weeks and the temp stayed at 90-89. Then something changed in it when I added the eggs?

So... I just changed to a smaller heat pad in the incubator and I went out and bought a new digital temp gauge that has a probe and poked more holes in the side of my box. So Do you think I can save them??? I HOPE :please: :please: :please: :please:

Oh and Is it ok if the bottom eggs look wet?

Your incubation medium is too wet - replace it with something drier.

Hard to know at this point if they'll be ok with a combination of high temps and that much moisture.

that looks like hatchrite...you didnt add water to that did you? cause its premixed for you, if you did that could be the cause of the wetness...

also, what kind of thermostat are you using?

I cant get the temp below 94 right now GRRRR

Since its to wet could that make it hotter?

no, I bought perlite and added water to it to make it wet. Guess I add to much :confused: and I just bought the Zilla battery-operated digital thermometer with a temp probe. http://store.countryliving.com/show_...tm_term=227575

You need a thermoSTAT to control the temps - they need to stay a constant temp throughout incubation. A thermoMETER does not control the amount of heat.

I don't believe the wet substrate shot up the temps, there's really no way to know.

A thermoSTAT is one of your MOST important investments for incubating eggs.

When mixing the perlite, it should be just barely moist. As in - you can barely feel that it's wet with the back of your hand when you mix it up.

Any place you thing I can get a thermostat at for it??? Ill have to do that in the morning unless wal-mart has one. But maybe next day shipping is I can find one online? but do you have one in mind that you have used befor?

A proportional is recommended for incubation. You can buy a Helix at http://www.reptilebasics.com/Thermostats-p-1-c-250.html and request overnight shipping.

The Ranco and Johnson's are on/off thermostats and people have used them, but they'll cut on and off with a 1 degree variance (ie, if you set it at 89, it shuts off when it reaches 89 and turns back on at 88).

try a herpstat from lllreptile.com they have good prices, but the hstat is good but a little bit pricey
