Dial Up Warning makes sense as it is usually in conjunction with image threads.

What's funny is, for those of us who used Dial Up when the internet first started, we don't even think about someone not knowing what it means.
For those of you who haven't known anything but high-speed internet, you just go huh? :confuzd:

I wish I'd known this back in the days when I would put up topics full of pictures on another forum. I always put "avoid if you have a slow system"
I actually had people who would be mad because their computers had crashed ~_~

ha ha.... I said something about DOS the other day and someone didn't know what I was refering to. Some younger people aren't even familar with someof the equipment we used to use.....floppy disks, digitizers, etc....It is sad that even though we aren't senior citizens yet....we can "show our age" discussing outdated computer stuff.
...does anyone still use a low speed dialup connection anymore?

A few years back I was cleaning out my garage and found a box of old computer equipment. There was a 300 baud modem in the box, it had been battery powered by two D cell batteries and had those ear cups for setting your phones handset in. I just laughed. I kinda wish I hadn't thrown it out now.

lol for some reason mark i knew you had one of those.
The modem market in the 1970's was very simple and stagnant. Modems tended to sell at US$1 per baud. Hayes saw no need to be different — the original Hayes 300 baud modem sold for US$299 retail. At that price point, Hayes could build a "Cadillac of modems", using high-quality components, an extruded aluminum case, and a plexiglas front panel with a number of LED indicators.
