Re: first clutch hatched !
One has come most of the way out of the egg but still has a bit of yolk so his back end is still in the egg.
Is this normal?
also they seem to have more narrow heads then I am used to seeing on peoples threads. Do they fatten up a bit as the yolk absorbs?

How long do they take on average?
That is a very astute observation. Typically when I see narrow headed hatchlings, they are typically the ones that have problems with the yolk in one way or another. I attribute it to them having problems absorbing prior to slitting the egg, and this is why their heads are smaller. You may have to get a closer look at the umbilicus and yolk if it is not out in the next 24 hours. There may some type of problem. If so, all hope is not lost. I have plenty of babies that didn't absorb any yolk, and lead normal lives with a little TLC in the beginning.
Good luck,

Out of 6 eggs there are 4 norms and 2 pastels. Unfortunately one norm died before coming out of the egg.:(. I had checked on them and he had his head poking out, 6 hours later it was hanging over the side of the egg.The remaining 3 norms have left the eggs completely. I have 2 runts that are 37g and 38g. They only absorbed half the yolk but still have very swollen bellies. I will pay special attention with them. They are very active and the first 2 to come out. The other norm is 54g and absorbed 90% of his yolk. I have not sexed any yet. I will wait till after they have shed. Of corse the 2 pastels are making me wait and are still sitting in the eggs, but they look bigger, (bigger heads). I also put the eggs on wet paper towel since the first one out thought it would be cool to stick his head through the egg crate holes. These guys are not head shy and dont ball up. Is this normal, or do they develop thier ball habbits later?
not much for pics yet. I have one pic of the first baby out in my hand for size reference. and one pic of them in the egg box. You can see the pastels egg in the babckground with the tip of his nose showing.

Re: first clutch hatched !
They are beautiful, congrats! :)
And I agree, you cannot have too many pastel girls.
I love the color on that one with the reduced patterned butt-end. Very nice.
So I guess you are a breeder now? :)
