lol i tried to keep myself from laughing while in class.
anyways about mite sprays, what about "zoo med" mite sprays? i bought one from petco and says it was approved by the "FEFRA".i used it before and it worked well in a couple of weeks.i've never seen PAM or equate bottles being sold before.the instuctions on the zoo med mite spray say to spary the enclosure and the reptile itself to also kill mites that might be hiding in the scales.is that safe to do?

Can I and should I treat the areas surrounding her tank (and with what)?
Back to the original topic of the thread...
When I used PAM I took everything out of the tank and generously sprayed down the entire Tank and tank furniture and I left it unsealed in a well ventilated area. I myself never treated anything but the tank itself and the tank furniture and my problem was gone after one use.

Jamie, there are quite a few people on this very thread who have stated using Equate with great success and no ill effects. I don't see any of them pushing Equate or harassing those who pay the $20+ for PAM, to each his own.
All anyone and everyone that has used Equate has stated is, Equate works the same as way as PAM, same use, same directions, same results! There are hundreds of threads and posts in all forums about this same topic. No one posting anything about Equate has said a single thing against PAM or pushed anyone to use Equate over PAM. At every post they have stated use either or in the same way, with the same great results. Yet, some feel the need to push and force PAM on everyone as if you do not use PAM you are irresponsible, cheap and should not own a snake!
All those who have used Equate as well as PAM love them both and have praised both their use and results.
Again, Both PAM and Equate work great based on what I have read and have heard from others in the hobby. On this very thread and forum you have users of both products with great success. Either product will eliminate mite and if used properly pose no threat to your snake. If either is misused, they can both kill your snake!
Your agenda is to push Equate at every chance. My agenda is to make sure people's snakes don't die from using products not approved for use with them. The truth is, you have nearly zero experience yet once again play the expert for all to see.

My agenda isn't to push Equate at every chance. I of course don't want animals to die either...That's why I stated that both products Can and will kill your animal(s) if not properly used, And the truth is I have experience using PAM. Again I will say that it works great! 1 time was all it took and the mites are gone. At the same time there are plenty of people that have great experience with both and use equate as well with ZERO problems or ill effects.
Say what you want Jamie...anybody can re-read the post starting at post #1 and see where Im coming from and read how others have had great results from both products.

Why not stick to giving the info you have direct experience, and pointing people to the source for them to decide for the other stuff?

I will interrupt you guys just to answer this poster then you an get back to :sabduel:
The problem with Zoo Med mite spray is that it will kill the mites but not get rid of the lice.
PAM is rarely found locally unless you have a speciality reptile store here is where I bought mine http://entirelypets.stores.yahoo.net/proventamite.html

Zoo Med kills adult mites, but not the eggs. I'm unsure of it's effect on larval stages.
