you are making the assumption that these game systems aren't worth anything. i like the fact that my soon-to-be-teenager is in the house playing video games instead of doing drugs or roaming the neighbourhood getting into trouble ;)
hey adam... i hear ya. if we had the money i'm sure we'd have a ps3 plugged into our tv right now... to heck with waiting for christmas morning LOL but alas... i need to send you the money instead - so be sure to play a game for me!

Re: PS3 Craze
I'd rather get a Wii. Less than half the price, and probably a lot more fun (for me, anyway :P).

Re: PS3 Craze
the Wii seems kinda kiddish to me, but it's alot cheaper... and i like the idea of buying old nintendo games with the points!

Re: PS3 Craze
In the end though this really isn't about PS3. It's about supply and demand, folks assaulting and robbing, a dad that can afford what his kid wants, etc.....basically just the normal human experience. Sure it's in the papers right now because hey that's part of the whole hype around this gaming system (and boy I bet they just LOVE the extra free publicity!) but in the end it's just folks being folks as usual.
Personally my family would love a PS3 but that's not in the budget this year and that's fine, no toy is all that enjoyable if it wrecks the budget and makes the parents nuts trying to do more than they can. We'll get one when we can afford it as the luxury item it truly is for us. For me anyways it (much like the snakes) are things we want, not need, so it will come when it can be afforded.
I don't see hassling Adam because he can afford it as being very fair. Heck if we had that sort of yearly income, we'd buy one too, but there's no point in being jealous or judgemental because someone else can. That's not the meaning of Christmas is it?

Yes, I agree with this. We all do what we can for our kids, and I don't begrudge anyone who can do more than I can.
