You guys against all comers?

I don't know. I can see the why in what you're doing, it's great to want to be helpful, but I don't see the necessity of all the work you're doing in order to be more helpful.

Instead of creating a new group doing what's already being done, why not just join in and keep it going? Drop in, drop out, no muss no fuss, no grandstanding, no broken promises, no disappointments.

But hey, you may be on to something. It'll be interesting to see what the state of affairs are in a couple of months.

My friend, we are joining in and doing what's already being done. Just we're going to commit to it and as well as try to keep the chat active when we're on. We're not going to rage war because somebody disagrees with members in the group. I'm sure some of us in the group will have different opinions at times. It's just we're going to be a dedicated group to helping and focus on that. We're going to help each other to help the other newbies that have questions. We'll communicate each other to say what has been covered and what the person asking questions needs assistance with and then go from there.

We're going to have strict rules within our group to avoid things getting out of hand and what not.

Oh well, if you've got strict rules that's ok then.

I wonder though, how and who will enforce these rules. Oh, and who gets to make them? That might be important too. Unless this is a dictatorship, then it matters not at all. I'm sure though, that you guys will get it all sorted out.

We have a board. They will enforce the rules. That way no one person dictates. Have some faith in us my friend. Everybody agrees to the rules prior and members can be removed if they break the rules.

Say Anya breaks the rules. I bring it up to the board and then everything gets put out. Since I'm the one that brought it up, I'll remove myself from the situation as I'm no longer neutral in the matter.

Buzz. Wrong again Scotty. Fail #2, would you like to go for fail #3.

Look at how you basically bashed the group you know nothing about. Wilomn voiced his concerns without having to act like you.

If you don't have anything positive to say here Scotty, then please feel free to post on a different thread. Thanks.

I didn't act like anything? I was voicing my opinion. Just like everyone else. So no I will not "take it somewhere else" but go ahead talk down to me some more.

I think it's not so much as making things complicated, but to have more than one person make group decisions. This makes it more fair when decisions have to be made.

On the contrary, you just called us "wannabe mods/admins". Would you like me to quote your post?

    LWEW, yes. Exactly.

I guess the only concerns I've got about this whole thing is that there's often more than one right way to do something. Most of us across the board agree on the broad basics of husbandry, the differences start coming in with more advanced husbandry technique, and those are things beginners shouldn't necessarily be exposed to yet, until they get the hang of basic information and technique. So having a group that says "my way or the highway" seems a little superfluous to a lot of us more seasoned keepers (whether you've been a keeper for a year or for 30).

I'd like to see the group put a more social spin on things, certainly-- having the chatbox more widely utilized is a wonderful idea, for example. But having a group of individuals slam newbies with one answer to multifaceted questions just seems to be a predictable outcome with this sort of thing.

Best of luck, whatever comes out of it.

(I just scanned this thread, so if my concerns have already been addressed, let me know.)
