she was prescribed 1ml per kg of panacur, once yesterday and once more in one week. she also gets 1ml per kg of albon every day for 7 days. prognosis is good, but once treatment is complete we will have another fecal done to make sure the parasites have been eliminated.

the panacur went down fairly easily but the albon is sticky stuff and since it was second of the meds she knew what i was doing and was not pleased! poor girl kept yawning and smacking her lips afterward--i'm sure her mouth felt sticky and probably didn't taste too good either.

i will be getting fecals from the other 2 females that came with her on sunday and taking them for testing on monday. i was going to treat all 3 right away, but i decided to get fecals done for all first. i will also be getting fecals for the rest of the collection as i can get them (which shouldn't take too long as i can usually get a sample by popping or massaging it out of them).

thanks to all for the good wishes! :)

he said that he doesn't remember whether those girls were ch or cb but that he is looking into it.

he told me when i got them that they were cbb, produced by him the previous year so i responded letting him know that.

ha, i don't really mind. i've been practicing popping snakes of all ages recently so i've gotten a lot of mess on me. :P besides, i can handle getting pooped and peed on for the assurance that the rest of the collection is clean. :)

Emily, sorry to hear that you had to bring this into your collection. I guess the good thing about having the tapeworm was that you may not have known that your snake had coccidia without the worm expelling itself because of it. I guess this is why one of my vets recommends as long as one year of quarantine on new animals... crazy stuff. Anyway hoping for a speedy recovery for your baby, and hoping no one else runs into this problem with their animals that they aquired from the same source.

Sorry to hear about your collection, I hope all of the others are fine.

I was still on the fence about Ed after the whole mite thing. I didn't agree with decisions he had made but although he wasn't my first choice to buy from I didn't have him on my 100% keep away list.....then I hear something like this...**shakes head and looks for a pen and his list**
