Why should I have to train someone else's cat to not come in my property? It's the responsability of the owner to keep their cat in their property.

If the cat was kept inside there wouldn't be a problem with it going over to other people's yards, killing birds, getting hit by a car, bite by another cat, over populating the world with even more cats, attacked by dogs, ect, ect.

you can't train a cat to stay in the yard..............they're cats. people should leave they're cats in the house.......this situation stinks for you, but having them humanely PTS. is the best way............trust me, if you have cats around your house now, wait till they start reproducing out there, you'll never get rid of them................NO Paintballs!

and i worked at the humane society for two years...........100% wild cats were PTS! No other way to deal with them........way to expensive to treat them, and they have all kinds of bad diseases..........Very Sad!

If a stray cat is in our yard causing problems, I'm not going to keep the dogs in where they tear up the windows. I'll let them out to chase the cat away. Although I find shooting them inhumane, if the problem is serious enough it may seem like the only way but please do not make them suffer what ever you choose.
I wish you luck with those strays!!

If your dogs are tearing up the windows then they aren't that well trained.
And shooting them is far less inhumane then letting them be torn up by two dogs.

Trouble arises when people try to take the law into their own hands. Let's say you get caught by a neighbor shooting at the cats.. not only would your local reputation be turned into a cruel cat-murderer, but also the news media loves to latch onto these things and would make you the hugest villain ever. There was a woman in Buffalo a few weeks ago, who poisoned her neighbor's barking dog and was convicted, and she is barred now from owning any pets and has to perform community service; she got lucky and was not given a jail term. Her name and face were plastered all over the nightly news, and her address was plain as day on the news also.. think about if something like this happened to you. You would lose your snakes and anything else.. not to mention it is cruel to begin with, even if there weren't civil consequences. I don't want to see you on the next episode of Cops.. :)
Now, I am 100% with you that cats should not be outdoor pets. Cars are big and move fast and crush things.. cats are small. That alone is enough reasoning for me. Coyotes, foxes.. mischevous kids.. why expose a loved pet to that stuff? I myself only have one neutered male cat, and he is 100% indoor-only.

Agree Jen 100%. I've done a few things I regret and shooting at a cat is one of them for sure. Cats are gods creatures too, as much as I hate them I must remember that. Dogs are our protectors from feral around here. Gotta love the canines!!

No Jake, the dog is not trained. Simple as that.

And Jen does make some very good points.
