You "know"???? ... I'm sorry, but you don't know me at all, let alone what I would and wouldn't do ... my son wants a PS3 for Christmas and if I have to pay $5,000.00 to get him one so be it. He's the best kid in the world in my eyes and with the amount of money I bring in a year, 5K is a small price to pay to get him what he wants and see that smile when he opens all his presents Christmas morning ... does not matter to me what I can get it for after Christmas, that doesn't help me at all.

Adam I have four daughters and I know "exactly" how you feel. I remember many years ago standing in lines "trying" to get a Tickle me Elmo for one of my daughters and unfortunatly never got my hands on in it time for christmas. Was the only time I felt I had let one of my babies down. Those wishlists mean the world to me and I will do all I can to fulfil them:)

I know what you mean. Back when I was 18, I worked at Toys R Us during the height of the Cabbage Patch Doll craze. When we would receive a shipment which was usually 2 dozen of them at a time, we would call people on the waiting list, and direct them to the large item pick up area behind the store. The procedure was to put out 12 and let people pick which one they wanted, and sometimes there would still be fights over a particular doll. The only benefit to working there at the time was that employees got to bypass the waiting list, so I got them for several people, although I didn't charge them any more than face value. At the time, I didn't understand the lengths people went to to get them, but I do now. ;)

Exactly! ... I'd gladly pass up buying a couple of snakes, or whatever to see that smile. ;)

And trust me when I say those smiles you never forget. My oldest is 16 now and I can still recall her favorite gift being her first electric guitar and amp she smiled, she cried, she plugged it in at 5 AM and blasted the neighborhood with a sour note! Nothing better!

This I can understand. Those tickle me Elmo's were a pain to get. I mentioned before that I worked at Super Target and I couldve bought many of them before they sold out. Maybe I should've and put them on Ebay. :( now who's stupid. LOL

Look. It's Adam's son, his money and his choice. He never asked anyone if you think what he'd pay is reasonable or not. We have our budgets on what we want. I think what people pay for certain snakes is insane. But who am I to judge what your set mind value is on anything. If Adam wants to pay any amount he wants, high or low, that's his business.

I think most people are missing the point. "SUPPLY AND DEMAND" be it PS3s snakes or what ever you are into. if i had the time(which i don't) or the money(which i don't) i would spent the money up front to turn around and sell it to the highest bidder. i think we all would. and like adam, said if i had the money there is NOTHING to expensive for my three kids. I take after my mother when it comes to christmas in the way of giving. she was the most giving person i knew. she would go to the ends of the earth to see your face light up with that special smile which only comes but once a year. now that she passed away i truly see were she was coming from, the smile on my chrildens face is worth all the money in the world to me...(if i had the money)... luckly they are only 6,4,3. so those days of the ps3s are a little off.
