I gotta say Bobmurrfy, you are one wacked out monkey telling this guy he can kill his snakes. Those are small tail kinks man, you must have no compassion for these animals what so ever.

That second baby with the kinked tail looks adorable oh my word. I know kinks are not a good thing, but he's still cute!

im not the one who suggested that, i told him the kinks didnt look bad enough for the snake to be in life threatening pain and that he should keep them as pets and just dont breed them...

as for a C02 method... its no different than a person sitting in his running car in a garage and dying from it... they say its just like falling asleep.. look it up its the most humane and non violent way of putting an animal down... and you dont feel like :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: after smashing your snake with a hammer :O

What I've read is it takes a long time because snakes have slower respiration than mammals.

ANNYways- the baby i needed to put down died on his own. so we don't need to figure out the most humane way to kill something anymore- i am sure there is a thread full of it somewhere on here already.
the kinks are staying with me unless I can find appropriate pet homes- that being said- some breeders would at this point choose to cull those ones as well- i mean - I now have 4 snakes that I can't use, taking up 4 tubs in my rack. I have to be careful where they go so they don't get bred, but in the mean time I am stuck with them. I personally love them so it is ok, but I can see why a breeder would cull.
my question now is what caused this? i would say temperature obviously, since that was the whole start of this thread in the first place- but every baby hatched from the first clutch (same incubator) is perfect. and the third clutch is beautiful- so now I don't know if the temperature is the issue- or if it is why it didn't effect the other clutch. if it is genetic then how do i go about finding out if it was the mom or the dad's genes?

here is a pic of a pretty and not kinked baby just to make this thread happy again lol

I agree 100%. I guess I'm who thinks 'abnormalities' simply give them more character. Not like a little kink is going to make it a special needs snake.

To answer your question about why they are kinked and the others are not could be due to each being on different days in incubation. Some stages can take more change than other stages. I personally would do the same breeding next year and have them incubate alone away from everything else in it's own incubator that is watched like a hawk. If nothing goes wrong then it was just the temps and that is where I am leaning on this one anyways.

Poor little guys. But I have to agree, those curly tails are adorable. And they definitely don't look life threatening. As long as they can defecate without issue, I don't see why you can't find them pet-only homes.

If you do decide to rehome them, I'd give a disclaimer to the buyer. I'd imagine you'd have to be religious about keeping the humidity up so there's no risk of shed getting stuck on that kink. Hopefully you won't have to assist too much with shedding. Keep us posted on how that first shed goes!

ya I think they will be fine I am a bit nervous about shedding, some of the kinks are all but attached to the rest of the tail so I am not sure how it will go, but that isn't going to kill them if I pay attention to it.
they have beautiful markings so I am sure I can find them pet homes- you know someone who wants a pretty snake but has no intention of breeding- might just take a while.

    Here is clutch # 2
So finding these guys pet homes: how would someone go about doing that? I don't want to put them on my website like "oh hey this whole clutch stinks- but I swear the other ones are great!" haha but at the same time I am in a fairly rural area so the chances of me knowing or running into someone who wants one isn't very high. If they were puppies with defects I would spay/neuter them before finding them homes but that's not really something someone does with a snake lol. Basically what would you guys do it it was your clutch to make sure they went to good homes but not someone who was going to breed them? would you charge anything? i don't want to ask for money for them just because they are pet only snakes but I am afraid that if I don't ask anything or enough then someone who doesn't really care about them would pick them up because "why not?" - sigh ...advice?

here is clutch # 2 all of them have at least some bit of a kinked tail tip:
