That's like the idea that pitbulls are dangerous just because of a few bad cases- when in reality you're in more danger from most spaniel breeds.
How are bloods dangerous? Do tell me, how are they "aggressive". I've had several bloods, none of which were dangerous or aggressive. Snappy as babies- but then again a lot of baby snakes are snappy. I've had corns, rats, and balls more aggressive than a lot of bloods I've worked with. Crossing off retics completely? You do know dwarves and super dwarves are out there right? Considering a proper SD retic is far less dangerous than a boa.
You should do some reading and educating. I trust myself and my fiance around my big 16' male retic more than I trust them around most balls/corns out there. It's all up to the individual animal, not an entire species.
Yes I do have criteria, such as dangerous and aggressive. And I'll be blunt, I have a 2 year old child that is more important to me than any snake so yes I will lump the species in that category and not take a chance. I am not condemning others who keep the species nor am I saying that all fit the mold.
And I yes I wrote off retics because of their size. And yes I am well aware of dwarfs and sd's. And you really trust a 16' snake over a corn? Wow and to quote you,"I fail to see how that makes much sense."
I'm sorry I am not keeping the animals you are keeping and want me to keep. So grow up and realize this is my decision not yours. And do me a favor next time you decide you are going to tell me I shouldn't be keeping animals delete what you have typed pull your head out of your ass and go post somewhere else. I'm tired of reading your nonsense.

Oh, and one other thing I'd like to add. Quit making analogies to other animals. Reptiles are not fish, dogs, cats, birds, or even horses (Mike), they are reptiles. Now go make yourself a TV dinner since you need something challenging in your life.

Sorry that this can't just stay on track and be a helpful, friendly thread. Also, you beat me to what I was going to say about trusting a 16' snake over a corn. Trust or not, a corn or ball can't kill you. As one of my uncles always says, you just can't fix stupid. I think it applies here!

No worries brother, I truly believe that MMReptiles thinks he's contributing in a positive way and doesn't realize he rubs people the wrong way. I think he's so used to people condemning bigs snakes and their keepers he has to jump to their defense on every front. And I do believe that's all his last post was about but it really pushed my buttons when he said I shouldn't be keeping animals.

Posts like his just grind my gears (Peter - "You know what really grinds my gears?"). LOL Yeah, I'm with you on that, but I don't see how he can honestly believe that he is giving any sort of positive input. My take on it is that he is just a bitter person who thinks they're better than other people because he is more experience in other things. It's like an uppity (spelling?) liberal arts major who knows a little about a lot of things but a lot about nothing. Jack of all trades, master of none, you know?
So I've decided that I'm going to get a 2012 female oliv python hatchling. How do you feel about those guys?

Here's the miracle- I do rub people the wrong way. I am an arrogant person that's full of himself. News flash champ- I don't care. I'm posting my opinion on a public forum. You don't think I don't understand your feelings about your 2 year old? I do. Fact is, you're judging animals based on nothing but reputations- which is exactly what most reptile keepers HATE. Do you know how many times I have people come into work and tell me I'm crazy for having a 16 foot python in my living room. When I volunteer to use him in demonstrations- people tell me he's going to eat children. Do you know how hard people like me work to show the general public that most of the claims about reptiles being mean/biting are based on nothing but ignorance and mental retardation.
Fact is, I've been bitten by more corn snakes and ball pythons than I have any other type of snake. I've lost more blood to corns and balls than anything else. You can make your choices, respect my right to call your choices ignorant, stupid, and frankly- you should stay away from this hobby as you do nothing but promote negative thinking about these animals that some of us work so hard to give a better reputation.
Yes, I do believe you should not keep animals. You do nothing but give them a bad reputation. I could see you on animal planet advocating stricter laws and telling people in the pet shop "man, get a ball python cuz that blood might bite you!". Also, yes- I do trust my 16' male tiger retic over most corn snakes I've been around. He's docile, doesn't give a damn about anything, and is incredibly docile. He's never snapped at me, never given me fits- even when I'm holding him taking off a stuck eye cap or checking his mouth. Even when I smell like rabbit, he never gives me grief.
I don't care if you don't want to keep the same species as me. I care about your ignorance and negativity to the hobby. You're tacky.
