I was going to write an article on why WW doesnt work but this article sums everything up. Minus one factor that I was going to add. (Yes a simple google search will bring this article up for you)

One additional thing I was going to add is the fact that humans hate keeping up with numbers. Eventually we grow bored and tired and fall off track.
Here is another good article.

I respect everyones opinion, and although I agree with you about crash diets, I don't 100% agree with everything you've said.
I've done just about every diet. I have done Atkins, Ketogenics, crash diets, Weight Watchers. ALL of them work, but most of them are unhealthy and post-diet weight gain is pretty much guaranteed. You are absolutely correct about that.
Weight Watchers however is a much healthier change to lifestyle and eating habbits. In the beginning it was about restricting calories and gave no consideration to macro-neutrients. It's changed a lot over the years to incorporate healthier eating when it comes to fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. There is much more to it now than simply cutting your calories.
I want to elaborate on my goal for this "program." I said 20lbs as a guideline - that is my personal goal and over 5 months, its a completely healthy one. My over-all hope is not that people become obsessed with losing 20lbs in anyway way possible. My goal is that people, including myself, start exploring healthier lifestyles and eating habits. If your focused on crash dieting and dropping 100lbs as fast as possible than your not going to enjoy it, and you will likely regress in the future, correct. Everyone's goals are all attainable, and there is a healthy way to go about that. To think that you wont reach your goals because people don't like to keep track of numbers, is ridiculous. It's negative, unnecessary and not helpful to anyone. Some people feel negatively about weight loss and that's largely based on societal trends, fine.
I was over 300lbs. I dropped over 100lbs without any weight training and was very unhealthy. But it was 1 step in a longer term goal. I went from 300 lbs to 190 lbs up to 240lbs at 10% body fat. I am not recommend that people follow that course of logic - but I would have to say that someone who is 300+ lbs is less healthy than someone who is 160lbs that walks..
Not everyone has the knowledge to balance muscular development, cardio, nutrition, and still maintain a state of catablism. It's great that you have done all this research and if you have pointers for people I would love to hear them.
Cheers.

You missunderstood what I wrote. People love to lose pounds, thats for sure. But keeping track of the numbers with WW gets old.

Maybe it gets old to you but I LIKE keeping my food diary on the app I got for my phone.
I'm not doing WW but am on a restricted diet. It consists of:
2 lean proteins
4 veggies
2 fruits
2 carbs
4oz skim milk
keeping track all day keeps me aware of what I'm putting into my body. And seeing it in writing helps me not "cheat".

The thing about the 17 day diet thing is that it's a little misleading; its not just 17 days, it is four cycles of 17 that promote eating lean proteins, vegetables and fruits (eating fruits sparingly) the first cycle, then reintroduces certain foods on the next two cycles and on the final cycle, you eat what you know will sustain your bodies needs without gaining weight. It also promotes daily 17 minute exercise routines. So long story short, it isn't really a crash diet considering it's main function is to re-educate you on what a healthy diet and watching your intake is and considering the last cycle goes on forever, it is considered a lifestyle change.
I am not for crash dieting at all and would never intentionally do something that I know will backfire on me. That's just dumb. But I feel that this "diet" is more of a re-education program. But that's of course just my 2 cents.

I also keep track of what I eat. I used to either eat way too little or way too much. I really like keeping track of what I eat. What I put into my body and how much of it.
Also, I keep forgetting to put this up!! This is a fantastic smoothie!! I have one every morning. Tastes good, is great for you....be prepared for a lot of energy! Haha.
Green smoothie!!
2 big handfuls of spinach
1/2 to 1 cup frozen (or fresh) mango chunks
1/2 to 1 cup frozen (or fresh) peach slices
1 fresh banana and 1/2 frozen banana
1 1/4 cups water
Blend. Enjoy!
(*some days I also throw in around 1/2 cup pineapple chunks)
You can use other fruits, this is just what I use.

Im not going to comment on the last few things. I am not trying to drag anyone down.
If you guys didnt check out the first set of video's I posted please do so. Here is another good video that I think is a must watch for weight loss. If you havent learned by now that there is a lot more to weight loss than just working out and reducing what you eat.

I'm going to respect the fact that you don't want to "drag any of us down" but it seems like you're doing a crackerjack job of it lol.
I'm curious as to know if you have even read the 17 day diet book. I'm going to assume (since you didn't directly mention that that video was directed at the "crash dieters") that your awesome video on feast and famine was directed at my previous posts.
I'll respect the fact that you don't want to start a food war and neither do I, but it would be great if you wouldn't assume that just because it has the word diet in the name that it's out to starve you. I invite you to actually read the book and then come back to me about how I'll be starved if I follow the guidelines of the book.
By the amount of food in their meal plans, I'll be more than swimming in food, but instead of it being the wrong kinds (the stuff I'm eating now), it will be the right kinds.
