Still five more eggs to hatch and no signs of slitting on any of them yet. Maybe tomorrow. ;)

Oh how I HATE the waiting game. Especially when they have started to pip.

Re: First eggs of the season for me. :)
This raises a question on maternal incubation in my mind...

When does the momma leave the nest? When all the babies have crawled out of the egg?

I love your methods here. I really like that you're debunking the myths of moms incubating their own eggs and not eating. You should post more pics of them eating on their clutches.

Once the eggs start pipping, the moms loosen their coils and/or move off of the clutch. They don't stray far from the nest if they move off of the clutch in my experience. At least not until the babies leave. They seem to stick around and watch what's going on in the nest. This female has been flicking her tongue over each of the newly pipped eggs and keeps repositioning herself in there.

From the look of things, I believe I have 3 mojaves and 2 normals so far with three more eggs left to pip. :)

Great odds so far! That is one good momma you got there. I will definitely be trying maternal incubation in one of my clutches next season. You have inspired me! :D And I look forward to pictures of the babies once they are out!

    OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been missing a lot! I've been away from bp.net... well, yeah, because I haven't had any questions. LOL...

We're not breeding this year so I'm very relieved I didn't have to go through that drama again. LOL!

But man... reading about your maternal incubation kinda made me miss that excitement of it! I'm looking at my momma snake right now and I swear she gave me that look of - I wanted to do that this year! Why didn't you breed me! Waaa waaa waaa... :D

    Congrats!!!

I still have four babies sitting in eggs but it looks like I've got four mojaves and four normals. :) I must say, though, my female and her enclosure are going to be cleaned as soon as all the babies are out. She and her tub are just a gooey mess right now. lol
