Re: about breeders that dont allow visitors?
i also dont allow people to come to my house because of two things, possible theft, and possible disease transmission. i will happily meet people somewhere other than my home to show them available babies but i also ask that they dont handle anyone elses animals that day, and have showered and put on fresh clean clothes.....might sound weird, but it REALLY helps lower the transmission of disease.
Re: about breeders that dont allow visitors?
This is an interesting discussion. I used to breed dogs and of course, people came to my home to look at puppies and meet adults and to see if the breed was right for them. I inquired recently of a breeder to see if I could visit their snakes. I didn't know that that was not really done. They said no. I don't have any bad feelings about that but I won't be buying a snake that I can't see first. Luckily, there are some breeders nearby and a few reptile shows around so I will be able to check out some snakes in person.... :D and I can't wait!
Re: about breeders that dont allow visitors?
Just a last thought: I have 13 ball pythons and 3 boas and I never saw any of them first. I saw pictures and I spoke with breeders about them and I asked for more pictures and talked to the breeders even more :rolleye2: Long story short, I am exceedingly happy with the pictorial representation as well as the verbal assurances that the breeders gave me.
When you go through reputable breeders you don't need to worry :D
