wierd shed

People here arent tryin to put u down or anything of the sort, but they do and will care more about the snake that u have and its well bein then ur lessons.

and in IMHO, takin care of an animal... whether it be a snake, dog, cat, ect... is hard and expensive. so if u do not have the money or not willin to give up a few lessons to make sure that ur snake is well then u should really think about findin a new home for him/her where u know they will be looked and care after well...

please dont take this the wrong way, and i understand that u are younger.... but u have to make a responsible choice between ur lessons or ur pet....

Honestly, my suggestion to you for your snake is to seek out a more experienced owner in your area (your vet will probably know of some. Call him up, all the BP owners I know would be ready and willing to come and take this snake off your hands). You don't seem to have the time, money, or will to take care of these animal(s?). I'm saying this because I'm scared that in your care, the snake never will get better, and never will get sold. I know how it is to be young and have animals, but I immediately jump on any signs of illness from any of my animals, regardless of expenses, weather, availability of my parent, and what I want to spend my money on VS. what is right, ethical, and needed for me to spend my money on. :( If you can't get a ride from a parent, seek out a friend, or friend's parent, or even take a taxi. Just please, please, PLEASE do what's right for your BP.

i still don't care much for what you people have to say but i thought i would apprise you of the snakes condition. he has shed again and the spot on his back is bright white again and the belly scales along the tail have returned to a normal color and show no signs of scarring and in fact were thicker than any where else in his shed so i think it was just a retained shed, but will still take him to the vet to ascertain this.

the temps and humidity in the tank have stayed right where they were the last time i posted them which is 86 degrees on the warm side and 83 degrees on the cool side humidity has stayed at 50%.

i went to the vet yesterday unlike what most of you said he said ha had seen this before and that my husbandry was fine and that my humidity could stand to go up. and as i predicted said that i should keep using triple antibiotic salve

That still does not say what your snake has. Is it indeed belly rot? Then I have to strongly disagree with your Vet and you. Snakes do not just "get" scale rot unless there are some husbandry problems.

Was it a burn? What in fact was it??

Seriously though, if you can't afford the snake and if your parents are not willing to support you when necessary, you shouldn't have a snake, or any other animal for that matter.

I used to be heavily into show jumping so I know how fun and important your lessons are and I know how expensive it can be but that is not an excuse for not getting the necessary medical treatment that your snake needs. When I was riding, I wouldn't give up my lessons for anything, but I also refused to take on anyother responsibilities for that reason. What are you going to do if you need a new pair of riding boots or a new helmet? What are you going to sacrifice then? I'm sure you will do whatever you need to do to get back in the saddle rather it be to sacrifice something, get your parents help or whatever, right? Well, your snake deserves the same, don't you think?

I've wanted to take my bp to the vet not because she HAS to go but because I want to make sure that she is in perfect health but I couldn't afford it until now. We have an appointment tomorrow and I assure you that had we not just spent $2500 on our dogs, she would have been there already. But again, because it's just something that I want to do and not necessary at the moment I chose to wait. So, I can understand financial issues but chosing riding lessons over your snake's care is not financial issues IMO, it's selfish!

If your parents are not willing or able to support you in the care of your snake you really should consider re-homing it as soon as possible. I'm sure it won't be hard to find somebody who will take her and see to it that she gets the care she needs.

Unless you got this snake without your parents permission, I can't say I totally blame you. Your parents should not allowed you to have the snake knowing that you could not afford it.
