I think giving them a hard whack and either killing or stunning them is much less painful as being constricted and gasping for air for a few minutes.

Its not hard to understand at all. Its just that Whacking is also quicker and what I would consider less painfull than constriction
Ok, this is not about what your opinion is on whether or not "whacking" is humane. Your opinion is completely irrelevent.
The AVMA does not approve blunt force trauma of rodents as a humane method of euthanasia. Why are you going to debate the opinion of vets and scientists?

This is definately one of the reasons people such as PETA,animal activists, and reptile hating people hate us reptile people. They think we are all cruel and act like rodents are nothing. You have to respect your snake's food, whether a mouse, or a big rat. Without the rats or mice, you would probably have NO snake.

This is true.
I'm an animal rights activist but I also love reptiles. Everyone always asks me how I can be both. The way I see it is that I have a choice of what I can eat to survive, snakes do not. I have to feed them rodents so I do it the most humane way possible which is F/T.
I can see why some activists get upset with herpers when there are people talking about 'whacking' and 'stunning'.

What I've said in almost everyone of my post on this subject.
We have to make sure we explain to people that no, not all snake owners practice this kind of feeding, I dont want anyone to think I would ever be caught dead feeding my snakes that way, but people that dont know anything about snakes and have never owned one will think every person who owns a snake sits around on feeding day smacking rats in the head until they die....thats not something I want to be known for.

Re: Feeding Live....
Whacking isn't a barbaric act at all. One good smack and a rat is dead, I could give a rats arse what the AVMA says about blunt force trama. The rat suffers little to none at all. Shen you see a rat get bit constricted and get out of the coils and run off, you'll see what inhumane is. I will continue to whack rats in a way that they don't suffer as opposed to feed live.

Some people will never be convinced, regardless of the proof...
