Re: Who's going to see Snakes On A Plane?
I doubt I will see it. I believe this type of movie is why so many people are afraid and dislike snakes!

Although, I guess it could be worse...
"Snakes on a Plane" was the working title, but it's the only reason Jackson took the part - they were going to change it to "Pacific Air 121" but he threatened to leave the picture! I think it adds to the kitsch appeal :)
I think inaccurate news reports in the papers and on TV are much more detrimental to snakes - they come from people that viewers trust, and then believe, instead of a movie that doesn't try to hide its silly factor at all.
Re: Who's going to see Snakes On A Plane?
they could have called it flight of the serpents or something.

I hope it will be the opposite and more people will be exposed to herps, and perhaps some interest may be raised about this "underground" hobby to the regular public.
I love it when I'm at work and I show people pictures and they go, "is that venomous?" i can't help but laugh.
Re: Who's going to see Snakes On A Plane?
"Snakes on a Plane" doesn't the title say it all.... sounds extremly dull...how much can happen on a plane? what can the snakes do? are they plotting a way of escape!
if the snakes win, eveybody dies, the plane will crash and the snakes are dead as well.
if the snakes loose, then they'll die or a mix of some dead (being sucked outta the plane) and some finally in captivity until they land... the end..2 hrs and & $20 bucks later... I wouldn't be a happy camper.... :taz:
Re: Who's going to see Snakes On A Plane?
I'm not sure if I'll see it in the theater, but I'll probably rent it. The pop-culture appeal alone is great, and the cheese-ball title lets you know that it's anything but serious.
I can't seriously imagine that this movie alone will change someone into a snake-hater if they're not one already, and I can't imagine anyone getting anything other than rolled eyes if they tried to use it as evidence of the evilness of snakes. Can't you see that conversation?
1:"You have a snake? How can you do that, didn't you see Snakes on a Plane!?"
2: Momentary baffled look. "Bwa-ha-ha-ha!"
Of course, after the movie The Net came out, my mother-in-law warned me against using my credit card to buy online, so I guess anything is possible . . .

Here I usually go to Petco in Lakewood WA. But when I posted that, I was thinking of when I lived in Wisconsin. I worked at Drs. Foster & Smith warehouse, and on more than one occasion I did run into a woman who scorned me while I was shopping at the F&S outlet store... she said something along the lines of "the devil was a serpent" and then shuffled herself and her children out of the store. The second time I encountered her she just stared me daggers from across the store until I left.
I by no means meant anything against churchmoms in general. Just the intolerant ones.

How funny, it's a shame though that people aren't more tolerant of other peoples' hobbies or wishes. Especially when they are completely harmless! Could you imagine giving someone the "evil eye" because they had a collie or something in a Petco or some similar place! And in my experience dogs are more likely to bite or at least growl defensively than snakes acting in an aggressive manner. But I guess it comes with the territory... At least down here in the "Bible Belt".
