    hmmm....I have found three common names for this guy, none of which have cat or catsnake in them. If you are thinking of Boiga sp. then you are on the wrong continent. Another hint: It shares one of it's common names with a very recognizable tree frog.

    No takers? It's Tripanurgos compressus, but I believe the genus has officially been changed to Siphlophis now.
    Common names include:
    Red-eyed tree snake
    coralsnake mimic
    Mapepire De Fe (probably a local name?)
    and banded tree snake

    Maybe this one was a little too obscure, but I had to do it. When I saw a pic of this snake in Harry Greene's book, Snakes, The Evolution of Mystery in Nature a couple years ago, it was so strikingly different, it stuck in my head as one of my favorites.
