Re: What type of substrate do you use?
I used reptibark, but recently picked up what I think is either a new product or just a new product for my area.. it is called Cozy Critter Super Shavings, the bag says it is made of hemlock, spruce and fir. It looks like pine shavings, however it is definately not pine... to the touch, it feels harder, not as soft and "fluffy" as pine either, there is no smell that I can detect, my hubby and kids cannot smell it.... will let you all know how this stuff works out.

Re: What type of substrate do you use?
Aspen is wood shavings (good for keeping in the humidity), but it is different from cedar or pine in that, unlike cedar or pine there are no naturally occurring oils that could give your ball an RI. Pine and cedar aren't good substrates because of the oils in them but aspen's a-okay. I swear by it and Allister loves it because it packs down well, and he can burrow in it when he feels like it.
Re: What type of substrate do you use?
I read somewhere that vinyl is good to use because it is easy to clean and because it holds heat very well. So that is what i am using now. I am going to switch to aspen or something different though.
Re: What type of substrate do you use?
Alright, so I can't find aspen any where, some one sugeested a feeding store? what kind of feeding store?
The closest looking stuff I could find was a mixture of white fur and euclipitous (sp?) shavings it was a real fine substrate, maybe too fine. Said it was snake safe, as well as any other reptile. Has any body tryed this stuff, or would even deem it actually safe?
thanks
Re: What type of substrate do you use?
i use aspen, but i'll change to news paper once its finished cuz im too lazy :/ i bought like 2.5 kg of aspen. wonder when that will be finished :) not any time soon.
Re: What type of substrate do you use?
I've been using Aspen, I usually get the giant bags, I like to cover the tank with about 1-1 1/2 inches of it to let my ball tunnel around, he loves doin that
Does any1 have a snakes that goes to the bathroom in their hide rocks?
Re: What type of substrate do you use?
