Balls on bullies

i think if you know the snake and you know the dog and if you have reflexes its fine. so i dont really see anyhing wrong with the pictures. if its a really relaxed dog that wont bite, and a really relaxed ball python, and you can instantly intervene, then the risk should be so low that its acceptable.

about the terminology, my suggestion would be to just call them pit bull. these dogs face prejudice and legal problems in some areas that are quite similar to the problems some snakes and exotic pets face, and calling them bullies just sounds suggestive in a bad way. no big deal, just a bad choice of words, for outsiders it just sounds strange and raises eyebrows.

but i would like to see more pics :) if the dog is calm and wont bite, and its not unsupervised and there is someone there who could pick up the snake at any time, i see no problem.

I'm one of 'those' people that made a statement in regards to being cautionary with small animals and bull and terrier breeds. Nothing in my post was unreasonable. It is what it is, and being a long time owner of bull and terrier breeds, I will speak up and state what should be stated when I feel the need to do so, for those out there who may be unaware of the potential risk. I never downed anyone on this particular thread, or stated that anyone on this particular thread doesn't know their dog well. I don't know why anyone is feeling the need to go off on what good dogs these are in responsible hands, etc. I'm well aware. I'm a long time owner/advocate and rescuer of APBT and bull type breeds in general, and part of BEING a responsible owner is being realistic about what could happen, and knowing traits that are common within the breeds. Now back to the regularly scheduled program! :cool:

I do not disagree with you that caution should be taken when introducing small animals to terrier breeds, they were bred to hunt and dispatch small game. As APBT and Bully breed advocates we both know the negative associations with the breeds. I try to dispel some of those by showing the breed in a positive light, showing they can interact ( under supervision ) with small creatures, cats, birds, other dogs, Kids.... But I will state again I have spent a lot of time working with my dog and feel I can read him very well. I wouldn't have taken these pics if I thought anyone was in any danger. I do not take any of the constructive comments personal, just wanted people to use common sense :D

I didnt know this many people didnt trust their dogs with snakes. My dog is high energy but i dont think my snakes are in any danger AT ALL. When my dogs see my snakes they NEVER fixate on them. I would never leave them alone but when im around i trust them with the snakes just like! i trust them around my2 year old neice.
