btw, I haven't ordered a scale yet. I need to get one that I can use for my other pets as well (birds, rabbits) . Anyone have one in mind that they would recommend ?

^Do you have a Wal-Mart nearby? They sell small digital food scales for $10-20 (depending on where you live) that work just fine.

The digital ones are $20 and the analog ones are worthless. I have the analog one because anything's better than nothing but I'll be upgrading to a digital one as soon as I possibly can. Spend the extra $10 and get the digital.
