Euthanization Methods - Which do YOU think is right?

how bout that CO2 overload? i heard it makes animals sleep and die while sleeping..

also my preferred choice of euthanization....for my snakes, any kitten born on my farm deemed "not cute enough", and kids i babysit that get on my nerves.

While this is true,
you can get various strong sedatives to take home,
and in the event you have an animal already "on its way",
a strong sedative sometimes is enough to push them over the edge.
OR,
you can give the animal enough sedative so that they are unconscious THEN do the freezer method ..
or,
you can have strong sedatives on hand to give an animal until you can get it to a vet to have it euthanized.
I've done this with Chinchillas when I used to raise them.

I chose freezing as itll slow it down eventually killing it. Im sure a bullet to the head would work but then id get arrested for discharing a firearm in the city limits and this way no one knows that i stuck a snake in the freezer. :P

Gun shot to the head or another form of sudden impact to the skull/ brain. Second choice would be some form of medical or chemical euthanization.

Making an animal suffer for any amount of time does not seem morally correct, even if it is its last minutes.

Try putting them in a pillow case then whack them against the wall. One to stun, two to kill.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about how to pre-kill a rodent!!! Well you could try that on a snake and see what happens.....:D

As gross as it is to do, I'd say that smashing the head with a heavy object is probably the kindest way to kill a snake. The brain integrety is immediately destroyed and there is no way for pain messages to be perceived.

I've seen the infamous YouTube video of a bunch of morons who cut the head off of a snake and kept tormenting it while the head kept trying to defend itself. Sickening. The brain was intact and still able to perceive a need to defend itself so that animal could no doubt feel pain, fear, oxygen deprivation and helplessness when it was unable to flee. I can't even begin to put into non obscene language how I feel about people who think it's fun and exciting to watch some poor animal suffer and die a slow horrible death. They are a waste of the air they suck in when they breathe.

many have said a shot to the head an I agree. I use to freeze them but a pellet gun right to the brain will take its life the quickest way. I dont enjoy doing it at all but id rather the snake die instantly then when i use to freeze them. I dont like putting any snake down but if it has to be done a simple shot to the brain will do it. It sounds weird but i dont have it in me to just smash there head with something and have found the pellet gun to work best. Luckily i havent had to do it in a long time but if i do have to put a snake down its either the vet or that.
