When I was younger my mom's friend had an EVIL chihuahua that bit me, I wasn't the first, nor the last! Are you telling me, I could sue the state of Georgia because they knew this animal was dangerous and didn't protect me from going there of my on volition and putting myself in that situation!? Who knew I could sue the state for not protecting me from making a mistake that put me in a situation where I could be injured. I must call my lawyer ** rolls eyes**

I do and don't feel bad for the woman. She obviously knew what the chimp could do to injure her if it got the chance by trying to sue the owner for 50 mil. But yet she put herself in a situation where the chimp is out of control... lack of common sense isn't worth 150 million

Big Gunns does feel sorry for this woman, but let BG ask you all this. If your friend came in your house and picked up your vicious Ball Python and Leopard Gecko and was mauled by them(exaggerating but you get the point) .:D Should they be able to sue you?

seriously whats next do i have to have electrical warnings on my outlets in my house or a warning sign on the hot side of every faucet tripping hazard signs on my front steps?

have you even ever looked at the warnings on chainsaws? THOSE are warnings people should know better than to do..right? (do not stop blade with hand?) but they're still there..

I'm not saying any of this is right or wrong, i'm just saying a ton of them win Darwin Awards or Honorable Mentions for a reason. Common sense is not rampant in our species as far as im concerned.

Are the animals in cages? What does my friend know about the animals?

If the friend just went and picked them up (from their cage) without permission and knowing the dangers of this man mauling leopard gecko and ball python, then no they shouldn't be able to sue me. Its their choice to pick up the ball python and leopard gecko. If the friend isn't aware that the animals are dangerous then i would say its their responsibility to find out before they come in physical contact with the animal.

I know that's not how things work in the court system and the owner of the animal is responsible for the actions of the animals in their possession. But back to the actual story. She knew that the chimp was dangerous.... she knew it was out of control and could possibly harm her or someone else. Yet she chose to put herself in the position she was in. I feel back about the injuries she has and that her life will be drastically changed for the rest of her life but that's it. IMO it was her fault that what happened happened. If the chimp busted through her window and came into her home and did that I would feel differently.

It's Big Gunns understanding that she did know this Chimp, and it was always tame, but EVERYONE on the planet has heard the saying "a wild animal is never tame".

BG really feels for this woman, and he's sure that all the money in the world will not compensate her for what she has lost....BUT..... There needs to be a line somewhere where you're responsible for what happens to you when you place yourself in harms way.

I agree and disagree with you. Maybe I missed it, please correct me if i am wrong though. I don't remember reading something saying that she said it was usually tame, it sounds like your assuming that she thought that. I don't think that the chimps owner was a friend of the woman since the woman sued/or at least tried to sue, the chimps owner for 50 million, what friend does that? She did make a huge mistake by helping the owner try and capture the chimp though. I feel for her and her family about that. I don't think its appropriate for her family to sue anyone for the woman's mistake though.

Totally agree with the second part :salute:

EDIT: regarding the first part, I am going off what the story said. We all know what the media does to make an interesting story though.

All the original stories that BG saw said that the animal was tame, and this was a friend of the owners that knew it was tame.

As far as the "what friend does that". Technically she's suing the woman's homeowners insurance. BG knows a friend of his that's doing the exact same thing right now. They're still friends....great friends.
