As do I, which is where a lot of the negativity in my posts on this thread came from. Sure, positive reinforcement for coming out with the truth is great. Unfortunately, those people that I was talking about learned that behavior from very similar situations to this. Except rather than learning to tell the truth from the start, they learned that as long as you apologize if you get caught lying everything will be OK, because there's no consequences to deal with. And if you don't get caught, well there's nothing to apologize for, right?

Thanks, I have learned my lesson!

In fact, in this thread, for the most part, people aren't showering him with praise. The original post only has one "thanks", and most of the replies still seem guarded. But I've seen similar threads where the poster gets quite a few thanks, and who knows, maybe reps too, and the replies have a much more positive tone. Yet really good posts from people who never act so poorly don't get that much positive attention. That makes no sense to me. Personally, I'd rather react positively to being treated properly from the beginning.
I accept the apology. I do have my doubts as to whether or not the revised version is the real truth, and whether or not the promise to never tell a lie on this forum again will be kept, but I'll wait and see and hope that he really is sincere. So my feelings towards Simpson Balls have definitely moved a step in a positive direction, but it will take time and continued good behavior on his part before it really gets positive.
Thanks very much, I respect your post in so many ways,
Daniel

Does that mean we all have to accept that and forgive it and like the person's actions? Of course not. We can all own our reaction. How do we know anyone here is completely honest? But, if we alienate someone like this poster, as I see it, we're losing a valuable chance to educate a potential or new member of our hobby. Trust is relative- would I sell him a snake- probably not right now. That type of trust is earned. Will I accept what he has to say at face value? Yes, just like I do every other post here. My praise is for his standing up and owning his actions. That act is admirable, and I am all for moving forward.
Thanks alot. You know all I wanted to do was say sorry not for everyone to post a comment trying to shower me with respect and kindness. I know some won't forgive but I do hope over time I will gain there respect in many ways,
Daniel

OK, I'm back in.
This is just ...... ridiculous.
If someone lies to you, more than once, then says, "gee whiz guys, I'm sorry you caught me and I won't EVER do it again," WHY would you then believe that with no proof?
Have none of you watched the news, read a paper, followed a thread on the BOI?
Liars lie. Then the pretend to reform. Until they lie again.
This kid may not be playing you but it is textbook manipulation for sympathy.
How about this, let him prove it by actions, not endless thank yous and I know I was wrongs, and I'm just a kid and didn't know any better.
That's a mess of bullsnot. Some of you are not much older than he is. Did you act like him when you were that age or did you already know it was wrong?
He made a mistake but didn't own up to it UNTIL HE WAS CAUGHT, then he changed his name and rolled on his back, tucked his tail between his legs and licked the heck out of your backsides but he has NOT proven anything yet other than he knows this game.
Some of you need to look up the definition of the word gullible.

People who tell the truth (or their truth), are often fronted by others who sacrifice the truth for the reason of harmony.
You are someone, whos posts sometimes make me pause for a second because you always seem to be 100% convinced of what you are saying and sometimes I really disagree, but in this case I am 100% on your side.
The web is patient and tolerating, I am not.
I know I posted offending things and offered an excuse, but I understand if some people do not take it. I would not beg like a puppy who peed in the bed, to be petted and feel better.

People who sacrifice the truth for harmony do a disservice to all involved.
When I post something it is because that IS what I believe.
There have been times when someone has shown me that a prior belief was incorrect. I have then taken my plate of crow, eaten it and moved on. It happens. It's how we deal with it that makes us what we are.

Re: I Have A Confession!
How about some praise for all those young people who are members here who HAVEN'T lied to us? They deserve praise about how much character it takes to not make up stories and lies to make themselves look better. How about some kudos for them being great members in good standing becuase they read and post to help the site, and help others and encourage us all in the hobby we love?
