Yes, in my experience I think most, maybe even 90% of rack keepers have hides in their tubs. I've got a small rack right now. Two shelves, 4 shoebox tubs on each shelf, and all of them have one hide in them. I use flowerpots as my hides and they do take up about a 1/4 of the tub and the water bowl takes up another 1/4. These are baby ball pythons I'm talking about, but even the big ones don't need a lot of room. They seem really happy and secure in their little homes. They slither straight into their hide when I put them back in their tubs.

I have hides in all of my tubs. Save for a FEW for bps that just dont use them no matter what.
Re: Hide or no Hide (or no brainer?)
Didn't read the whole thread, but to the OP... wow, why did you get a BP?
I have the odd snake that doesn't have a hide as they are the die-hard "under the paper" snakes. But I also have a rack system.
The rest have one light hide that they move from the warm to cool sides as it suits them.
To have a BP in a display viv with no hides is cruel.
Maybe you are and maybe you are not, but your initial post makes you seem like a person that is making decisions on your needs and not your snakes. Does not look good on you...
