Re: When is everybody starting this year??
The boys have slowed down on their feeding and started to refuse about every 3rd meal, last night was a feeding night and all the boys refused. Time for them to go to work! We will be pairing them up tonight with the girls as we wanted to give the girls a day to digest their food before the first intro.

We have a couple other girls that are still too light at around 1000 grams or so. Hopefully they continue eating and get up to weight over the next couple of months and we will start them around December.

I'm not sure what is up as we have a May 2008 Female Mojave that is already up to 650 grams. She has already passed a couple of our 07 girls in weight. Why can't all Females grow at this kind of rate? Would sure make life a lot easier. Also she has not refused a meal to date even when in Blue! If she continues at this rate by the time she is old enough to breed she will be huge! Hope her eating habbits turn out to be genetic! :D

Since the breeding season is so long I'm not pairing any thing up till New Years eve. :D It'll give my big girls more time to keep feeding and putting on the weight for larger clutches. :D

Amen brother. I don't even want to think of breeding yet, I still got three clutches in the bator. LOL. Probably around November 7th we'll start with a few introduction.

Ive also started already. Wont be breeding a bunch of females. I have seen my YB male locked with 2 females about 4 times each now. I have 2 others that are up to size they are going to get some time with my Pastel. Then I have a few pos het albinos that might go this year to a 100% het albino male. If the females are big enough. Then also have an 06 pos dbl het VPI snow female that might go to an 03 pos dbl het VPI snow male. If she is big enough. She just started back eating so shes got a bit to go. If I try her it wont be until later. Also have a Mojave female that is at 1000g now, so might give her a try. But again will be later in the season.

I'm starting late this year. I am in FL and every year I get impatient and start throwing things together in october but nothing ovulates early for me anyway. This season ended up being really late for me even though I started breeding last october. I have a lesser x lesser clutch hatching now, and a big pied female that just had her prelay shed yesterday. They may not end up hatching until 09.

Plan to start again in January, when it's actually cool here in Texas. I start cooling in January, pairing at the same time, and generally get eggs from May to August. Works well for me.

Last year I only had one girl big enough to breed. I cooled in Dec. and started seeing locks right after Christmas. She ovulated in April. So, I'm going to stick with that same plan, and not start pairing until early Jan.
