i never said everyone who plays video games is friggin stupid/ of course people are going to play. i just said its very dumb someone would pay 13k for something that wont teach you anything!!! maybe thats their hobby but main point is. dont drop out of school or something that will get you somewhere. think about it. guitar hero will be old news when they come out with another game. then this kid will have nothing!!! besides 25000 for the rest of his life.

Well, it is ultimately the kid's (and his parent's; did they have any say in it I wonder?) decision. You and I and Joe Schmoe each have our opinions on how we want to live, educate ourselves, play video games, and eat tacos. And we each ultmimately have to answer for our choices.
I collect on student loans, and am astounded on the amount of people who took $40,50,60k out in loans only to end up working at Taco Bell. Granted, many goofed off and did not graduate. But many others did and cannot find work in their fields. Maybe school is just not for this kid and he knows it? I personally did drop out of school (long story involving a pregnancy and miscarriage..) School was horrible for me; I was picked on, ignored, and avoided because I liked to dress differently and listen to metal and liked people similar to me that, heh, had already dropped out of school and thus were not in school to hang out with. School was hostile for me and while I obviously didn't succeed, I tried ending my life because of all of the angst. Maybe school is a hostile, bullying, and hurtful place for this kid? Not knowing much of the background info, maybe he is justified in dropping out. I think that it is hideously jusgemental to say that it is "sickening" that he dropped out.. it is a free country.. Even if school is a nicey-wicey place for him and all is well, he still has the choice of whether or not to attend. If the vid-game career bombs, he can get his GED. My prediction is that he does great at GH and in the coming years, gets his GED and gets into a tech-related field and makes more than some kids who took out 100,000.00 loans, flunked the bar exam, and are working at walmart.
