Re: First Time Cutting Eggs
Thanks again everyone! I just checked them this morning and the same three are out and about with their three buddies peeking out of their eggs at me. I even very gently stroked one of the babies (didn't remove it though) and my goodness they are soft as silk. It's such a rush to have babies we produced finally making an appearance!
Just to double check here....we're to leave all the babies in the incubation box until the entire clutch is out....right? It's so odd having this scary newbie feeling again LOL. All the time on this forum, all our research and talking to breeders...yet I'm worried sick we'll do something wrong this first time up to bat with hatchlings.

Re: First Time Cutting Eggs
Jo,
We pull the babieas as they hatch. Although, every now and then, we may have 48 hours between the first hatch and the last hatch. I think sometimes in these situations, leaving the second to last hatchling in with the last snake in the egg may help to coax the last one out a bit faster. I believe that movement and bumoing outside the egg, might be some type of stimulus for the unhatched babies. It doesn't hurt to leave them all in the box until they are all out, but I just stated what we do.
Hopefully that was some food for thought,

I used to buy gravid females and then hatch out the babies a loooong time ago and I also bred a few of my own but I don't recall where I saw it, just that I did. I don't remember if I ever had one die from it, but being stuck that way and getting panicked could lead to choking. At least it seems that way to me.
Wes,
Thanks for the response. I have never heard of that happening, and have never seen any get stuck in the hole like that in my collection. I may leave a few clutches alone this year and let them pip, so that I can more closely observe this phenomena.
Re: First Time Cutting Eggs
I'll get some pics taken and start another thread for them, but just to finish up this one....
The last ones came out of the eggs and all 6 are doing fine and all set up in their 6 qt. hatchling tubs in our brand new hatchling rack.
Thanks again to everyone for the support, information, patience with all our questions and just for sharing this very special first clutch with us. :)
Re: First Time Cutting Eggs
.....so jo, what are there morphs?!
Re: First Time Cutting Eggs
I promise some pics later today or tomorrow and the full count on this clutch. We were building racks yesterday and I just ran out of time and energy. Watch for a new thread tonight or tomorrow, I promise. :)
