Re: Dirty Jobs - July 10th
No comment from me on the giant handling...I'm clueless and totally inexperienced that way so won't comment on their technique. However, those redtails in the tub just made me laugh. Sorry but no way am I going in bare handed, in an over the snake position with a big hissing boa. That's just an open invite for a strike and I'd consider it my own stupidity for triggering that. Small enclosed area + hissing snake + big boa strike range + handler in a predator posture = me getting bit as far as I'm concerned LOL. Also let's be honest, when we humans are bent over fully at the waist like that, trying to manage a struggling ticked off snake isn't giving us much leverage or stability.
I was surprised they just didn't use a hook to move the snake into a safer position and then get a good hold on it or drop a cloth over it's head until their hands were in a good position to safely remove it from that bin.
Re: Dirty Jobs - July 10th
Lol! right!?!?! Well, I'm gonna chalk it up to "good TV" Or what they (the producers of the show)? expect the viewing audience would like to see.... Cause really... Approx what? Probably 85% of the people that watched that show don't own herps, etc. So they got to watch him handling these scary snakes. lol

Well Sev seemed to enjoy the show overall....

Though being a typical male he did attempt to steal the remote a time or two....

Re: Dirty Jobs - July 10th
I don't know... it seems like they handled those Boas in the bin with a bit too much drama. That last one looked like it could have easily been picked up and placed in the cage without any fuss whatsoever. It may have hissed, but it certainly wasn't in a strike position.
Also, I couldn't help but think that those owners had very little experience with alligators. Poking that large one with a broom didn't seem like it would do anything other than tick it off.
Re: Dirty Jobs - July 10th
Yeah, the show was okay. I'm hoping that they were just "wrestling" the snakes to make it look good on tv. Those big bird-snatching killer boas, ya know? That rattler pit was pretty damn awful, with roaches and coins and crap in it. Oh well, coulda been worse, no?
"Big snake. Big snake. Big... snake... big damn snake. That snake is big."
Re: Dirty Jobs - July 10th
If you're looking for an adjective to describe this snake...it would be...big. Whatever show Mike does, his dry humour just cracks me up!
Re: Dirty Jobs - July 10th
Yeah, you could tell there was a bit of overkill in the handling of some of those snakes for the camera. Mike Rowe is halarious "Big snake...big big snake"
I love to watch the Deadliest Catch, that show is addicting!!! Mike Rowe narrates the show... The season is over now, but they are playing the re-runs starting from season 1 at 10 every morning.
Did anyone see Man vs Wild after the roller coaster wussy? He drank his own pi$$!!!!! :omfg: :pee: NASTY!!
