My Harris Hawk Eggs

Well i decided to enter my harris hawk chambers today and see if the eggs are fertile. It is very crazy to enter their chambers as they are ready to hurt/kill anything that gets near their nest. I came away unharmed and the eggs were fertilized and it looks like their is a chick inside them but dont know if they are alive???

stupid me hasn't looked at this thread in a while. i love the rt and cooper's pic
I love to be able to deal with such powerful birds

but candling the eggs seemed like quite the dangerous undertaking. hope they're still viable and hatch for you.

Yeah it can get a bit crazy with breeding birds. I hate going into them but I had to know and only one way to find out.. plus my falconry buddies pressured me to do it.. of course I had to

That's an awsome video. I can see myself retiring with a hobby like this. Birds of prey are just amazing animals. I just hope for the sake of my old man self that apprenticeships for working with them are easier than finding an old man with an airplane who thinks my 3 channel cub piper is a joke and unworthy of teaching the 25y/o owner how to fly. If it's as hard as finding an R/C instructor or a tattoo apprentice, I'll be 98 by the time I learn to fly falcons.
