Guys this is why education in our hobby is above all the best tool we have. If we sent the corporate offices a letter signed by hundreds of reptile enthusiests saying that we've had enough of these practices and are publicly spreading the news of a boycott of these chains until they get their act together, they would listen. If we included a list of the websites where this public announcement would be posted, I'm sure they would be happy to prevent it by handing out a sheet of paper. The goal would be that every person who visits an animal forum on the web, or any website owned by any member here would see the boycott. They don't wan't that kind of negative publicity.

Also, they would probably sell 2x as many overpriced snake hides than they do now, and we can push disposable substrate where apropriate, so they don't buy those reptile carpets. That would make them more money. I think to get together and make an attempt to change things is better than waiting until people buy the animals without knowing anything, than getting all upset with them on here. Imagine never having to read one of these horrible stories again, because of changes that this community helped faciltate. Even if we fail, at least we did our best.

Very true it would have to be handled in such away what the reptile community doesn't come off looking like fanatics and a petition would be a great start.

I agree, maybe have someone with a PhD or something, and who is a good writer and carasmatic speaker write the petition letter and the post for websites to use if they deny us. Than us simpletons and fanatics can just sign it without adding personal comments or outbursts. I'd be happy to do it, but I'm sure there is someone else who would do a better job.
