first off please dont use "aim language" on bpnet. you obviously like the attention of bringing out a snake in public and this will just hurt snake owners nationally and when snakes get banned because you feel as if you need to wave a bp in someones face:colbert:

well if you like bringing ur snake somewhere u should beable to bring them around, I see it as the same thing as bringing a dog around some ppl are scared of dogs as well, and if ur gonna bring a snake outside it's usually gonna be tame, and alot of dogs arent tamed, so i dont see a problem in bringing a snake outside or going for a walk with them :D

that is a great explanation but.... dogs enjoy going for walks etc. snakes dont.

99% of dogs personalities are very predictable. snakes are completely unpredictable.

I recently saw a video of a 10 year old boa that was "tame" bite the owner in the face when on public display. I don't care how laid back or tame you think your snake is, you can't predict the behaviour of the animal in all situations. All it takes is one person to make a sudden move or smell like food. No matter how much you socialize a snake, it's still a snake. Its primary thing to do when scared, is to inflict a defensive strike. No way to prepare or train a snake for every possible scenario. If someone gets bit by your snake in public, you just set more fears in motion. :colbert:

we love taking our snakes out with us... we're just really careful of who and how many ppl we let come up a touch the snake's..... but what i really love is watching the reactions on ppl that are scared of them... i know thats mean....but we only take them into pet stores.... it's not like we take them into a mall or anything

If you want to scare and shock people, just wear black lipstick, heavy eyeliner, white facepaint and a dress from Hot Topic.. no, wait, that is too trendy. Back in MY day, I didn't need a live snake to scare anyone! Boy, mall security really loved us! Random outbursts, breaking into song, and attacking fake trees work well too..

It is really best to keep them each housed individually. They are not social animals and unwanted, too-young breeding or male-on-male conflict could arise.. not to mention the spread of any disease that one of them gets..

In the same way that if you have a snake that has been handled regularly becomes used to it without feeling threatened, but then you don't handle it at all for a year and it becomes more "aggressive," I think you can earn the trust of some snakes by regular outings/handling sessions.
