Re: should we get a bunny?
at this point i have my daughter contemplating the fact that she'll still have this bunny when she's 18. i want her to ponder the fact that this will be her responsibility all through her teen years.
it's easy to take the cage we are making apart... it's harder to take care of a bunny for 10 years. so i want her to really think about it before we do it.
i think... i do think... that if she does get the bunny she will spend a lot of time with it. but i'm not making this an easy decision for her. i making her realllly take her time in deciding.
Re: should we get a bunny?
 That's great! A bun is definitely a critter that requires commitment, and I'm glad you're getting your daughter to seriously think about that! I really wish more people would. And well put, Danigurrl, they're definitely all about the time spent with them and rewarding but high maintenance critters.
And aren't those cages great? Easy peasy to put together and take apart, yet lots of run around room.
Oh! And I thought you might get a kick out of seeing these trained bunnies! I bet Unut could do that, if I had the room, lots of treats, and a clicker, lol!
Re: should we get a bunny?
What a funny video! I had no idea they had bunny competitions like that!
Re: should we get a bunny?
oh what fun videos. we (whole family) just sat around my puter and watched that one and others that popped up on the page... ;)
my daughter said, "bunnies can DO that?" and i told her... the more time you spend with your bunny the better friend it will be. the more it will be able to do and the nicer pet you'll have.
Re: should we get a bunny?
Isn't it amazing? I didn't know they did that either! Someone posted it on a rabbit comm on LJ. I did know that you can clicker train bunnies to do tricks though if you have a LOT of time and patience. I assume that's how they trained em to do the leaps. It's like a dog show! Like little mute vegetarian doggies, but completely different! ;)
Re: should we get a bunny?
well... guess who we picked up today? gingersnap! she's a holland lop... 9 weeks old. no pics right now as she's settling in... so i'll get some tomorrow.
we stopped by the petstore after clay class today... to get my live pink for my kingsnake (who ate immediately i might add!) and we held gingersnap for about 30 minutes. she just laid in my arms and soaked up the Reiki i was gifting her. what a sweetie.
so we left and found the coraplast we needed... popped into the dollar store and got a heart shaped food dish and a few toys... and went back to the petstore to get gingersnap.
came home... finished up the cage and popped gingersnap into her home. she's in her litter box grooming herself. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
(by the way the bunny we were going to rescue died two days ago - i'm not sure why... i was just told about it) so we ended up with a petstore bunny but if we get her friend... we are hoping (hopping) to find a rescue. ;)
happy birth day to my dear daughter... happy birthing day to me (on the 25th) this is her gift. :)
Re: should we get a bunny?
Oooh, she sounds precious! Congrats, and pics are eagerly awaited! :D Hollands are my favorites of the lops, those sweet lil faces! Congrats and happy birth day to you both! :)

we still need to get carpet for the upper two floors. what kind do you suggest? we've enclosed in area where her litter box is... so she has privacy away from the cats!

Re: should we get a bunny?
Great video LOL. Now if they could only teach rats to be bunny jockeys. :P Congrats on the new bunny. She's very cute and that name is perfect!
