LOL. There's a pretty big difference between "a lot of buzz" and "I think I read it on a kingsnake forum one time."

The truth is that we've never experienced kinking in our Lemon Pastel line, nor have we heard of anyone experiencing kinking problems with the Lemon Pastels. We've selectively outbred our Lemon Pastels by crossing them into some of the nicest pattern projects we could come up with, and it's a very strong line that consistently throws some very nice offspring.

I think there are other Pastel lines that make a nicer super pastel if you're after that super faded, purple-y blushed-out look. Super Lemons are extremely high contrast.

Gotta love that rumor mill. :)

I would say lemon x lemon or graziani x graziani. I love the contrast of lemons and I love the blushing of grazianis.

Have to agree with the last poster... I love them both for different reasons. That said, Graziani supers are probably my favorite (barely...). That might have something to do with the best Super Pastel ever created:

Re: what makes the best supers?
Actually I think the best supers would be produced by the cleanest pastels no matter what line they're from. I think pastels are finally at a point where more and more people are going to be extra selective about the females they breed their pastel males to instead of producing as many as possible. Which, will make cleaner and brighter pastels, which in turn will make cleaner and brighter supers. At least thats what I hope will happen.

A pastel is a pastel. I've seen bad lemons, bad VPIs as well as exceptional of those lines as well.

I would just personally like to choose my pastels off of experience and taste rather than pick a 'line'. Selective breeding based on what you like in the snake is more important then any lineage.
