Have you ever seen a legless lizard?? (BTW it is sweet) But that is, i think, where snakes evolved from. Or if you want to be radical, thats was the first step for snake to lizard.

By making the "sm_rt_ss" comment, I just thought it was funny that Adam's only response to "wouldn't they just be lizards" comment was "lizards have external ears". No one was being rude, we're all just a bunch of smartallics (sp).

    ALL IN GOOD FUN!!!:D :D :D

What does that have to do with anything?

They do respond, of course, to a person touching them; I think, IMO, it is just an instinctual response to stimuli of an unknown source. It could be a prey item, an enemy, or a potential mate, or just a human finger.. anything touching the snake will elict this response.

When I am showing a python to a kid or kids, or an adult who is leery of reptiles, I'll "tickle" on the belly and let them see the snake make that section all concave to get away from the tickling. I tell them that snakes are ticklish. I don't mean it as in the humans are, but it does tend to make the people more receptive to reptiles in general. I think it might be a FORM of being ticklish, not in a pleasure way, but more in a "eek, eek, ekk, stop it" way. If that makes any sense.
And to toss in my worthless .02 I don't think there was any rudeness excpet for the person calling rude. And what was all that leetspeak? Makes it difficult for me to read. But then I'm old and behind the times.
I'll try to take a picture of the movement I'm talking about just to show it off.

Sapphire, not trying to be mean or anything, but your messages are sooo hard to read, my monitor is at 1280x960 and I still have trouble reading your posts... the font is so very small, honestly, ppl most likely will skip over your posts because they are so hard to read in the font you have selected, how about trying another size font to make it easier for us to see your posts?

    No, never.

Tickling is the act of touching a part of the body so as to cause involuntary laughter or twitching movements.

Since touching the snake causes it to twitch it's muscles, that seems that it would count as tickling. Anything that has nerve endings can be 'tickled'

Did I miss the fun part of the semantic argument?

I'll have to hang up my quickdraw mcgraw hat.

    :(

I can POUR a bucket of nails out - but the act of pouring does not make them fluid.
