Thanks and all, but I think this is going to start something that really didn't need to be started.

Two different routes for reaching the thread. Your original route went through the most recent post...and mine went through the forum so the thread comes up on the 1st post of the 1st page.

EDIT: LOL. And the thing that got me going, is that he said I was just a 13 year old and he was keeping reptiles for 35 years!! I don't care!!! HE keeps BPs at 85 hot spot so....

He said we should make a poll to see who they like the best, me or him. He's stuck in Kindergarten. lol.

Age means nothing in the category of experience. How about having a horse race with two equal horses, one experienced 14 year old rider and one 90 year old woman who's never sat on a pony?

LOL; what a crock. Reminds me why I stay on forums that aren't ruled by one king and a bunch of automatons.

I use both forums, I feel I get the best of both worlds by listening to everyone's advice and deciding what works best with me. I just dont feed live because freezing kills parasites, its cheaper to feed a lot of snakes if you dont want to breed, and in a split second the rat could take out an eye and I dont trust myself to be that quick to stop it. And I learned all this stuff on both this forum and a few others...so it's good to have some variety.

What parasites? Most are species specific and aren't in the proper stage to even infect anything. Now if you got wild rodents who had stepped in infected snake feces prior to you feeding them to your snake, yes, your snake would get parasites. But definitely not from feeding live mice/rats. Those are mammal parasites and they are designed to thrive in a mammal's body temperatures, and the same goes for reptile parasites, they thrive in reptiles and not in mammals.

I feed live mice that I raise myself, and yes, I have done fecals on them and have come back with positive pinworm results. But you know what? They are mammal pinworms. I have even done fecals on all of my snakes in varying intervals and have found no indication of pinworms or other parasites. Why? Species specific. True, I have found digested pinworm oocytes(eggs), but those are from digesting the mouse and are in no way harmful to the snake(like pinworms are harmful, anyone want an itchy bottom? LoL).

Anywho... Just trying to debunk the myths out there.
