Big Scare! (blood python pics)

Easy, no need to be so derogatory.

all bloods are not as nasty as their reputation suggests and alot of the time they will just hiss and false strike. Either way you will find out pretty soon what her temperment is like.

The good thing is they are good feeders normally but they are certainly not forgiving if you get their set up wrong.

plus they need a bit more floor space than Balls and especially as an adult that can grow over 6ft in length and weigh in excess of 30+Ibs if you want to see pics of an adult (although still not fully grown) try this link here ( blood pics ) to a thread I started a while back I posted a fair few pics of mine.

I love bloods I think they are a challenging large snake in a smaller package but they are certainly not a beginner snake in most cases.

Not all bloods are killers.I have had a full grown adult that was as calm as my corn snakes.I have also had babies that would of loved to take my head off :P :P .They are not considered mutts they are hybrids;) .

HeHeHe snakey you might be recieving a stream of PM's from me in the near future then. I love her to death and I definitely want to keep her aside from the fact Im new to snakes (new as of 1 week ago). I will take any advice and keep you and other blood lovers constantly updated so I'm sure she is taken care of. Today after work I will be going to Mr Petman, Lowes and walmart for a series of items needed to build her tube tonight. So around 7-9pm I will be posting pics of it and asking for new ideas and tips and tricks to keep her happy. BTW your bloods are b-e-a-utiful!

the nerd care sheet is a good one and you can find it on here as well make sure you read that it offers sound advice on what conditions you need to maintain.

your best bet is to keep it simple in all aspects , get the right equipment ( digital temp and humidity gauge ) heating requirements there are many on offer , substrate ( I use newspaper for all my snakes ) that holds humidity well , they need a good size water dish for basking in they will often soak for long periods at times.

I feed frozen thawed I dont know what method you plan on using but make sure you understand the risks whatever method. They will eat and eat and eat so be careful not to overfeed.

if you just got it dont fidget too much with it let it settle in for at least a week before handling etc so its especially important to get the set up in the tank right 1st , warm end basking spot of 88~90F . Make sure you have a hide in each end of the tank.

I have read through the NERD's care sheet about 3 times now... to make sure im obtaining all of the needed info. I will swich her water bowl with my bp's bowl it's perfect for her. I also read on the NERD's caresheet I can keep the entire tube an ambient 80-84 temp and 50-60 hum. and that young bloods are quite happy with that. Providing that the room tempature (my bedroom) does not (sp)fluctuate. Im going to use newspaper for substrate (I thought that like to bury themselves). Also I want to make a humid hide that I will place in the middle of the tube. The moss that i need... do they refer to it as any other name that the big S word...?

Sphagnum moss :sweeet: . Oh, and it's tub not tube ;) .

LOL in my mind i keep saying tube (toob) but im picturing a tub. I saw some sort of moss at Mr petman for frogs or something? Will that do (it might have been Sphagnum moss)? and what is the prodecure to making the moss moist. Also - will medium granite hide with this moss serve as a hum. hide?
