Re: bp escaped!
I am extremely sorry to hear about your predicament and I wish you all the luck you need in finding him. Personally I know what it feels like. It has happened to me on a couple of occasions. But I have had an escapee that usually takes the cake. LOL.
I have a story to tell:
My 8ft. Female Columbian Red Tail Boa escaped in September of 1998. I loved this snake like it was my baby hence her name. I raised her from an 18" cute lil neonate to an 8ft. rabbit eater. (I just want you to understand the size on this beautiful girl.) When she disappeared I searched high and low, tried flour, bags, rats in a cage, ect. But I could not find her anywhere. After months of searching without a trace of her, we thought she actually got outside into that very snowy winter. I thought maybe one day in the spring I would find her outside.........when the snow melted that is.
We sold our house in about March of 1999. We sold the house semi-furnished to a friend of the family. Since it was over six month since I have seen my baby. We did not even bring her up at the walk through, the closing, or the actual moving in of their stuff. SHE WAS GONE SIX MONTHS ALREADY.
Fast forward a couple months to June of 1999. I just started a new job after graduating. It was my third day and we were really busy. My boss called me into the office and said my mother was on the phone. I was surprised because I told her not to call unless it was an emergency. So this is the dialogue that took place that fine summer afternoon.
Key: D=Danny M=Mom.
D- Mom what’s up I am very busy is everything ok??
M- There is a monster on the window.....
D- What mom I don’t understand??
M- There is a monster on the window.....
D- (getting frustrated at her shenanigans) Come on mom your going to get me in trouble, what’s wrong, are you ok??
M- There is a monster sunning itself in the bay window and she laughed.....
D- I LOVE YOU!!!!! BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ran up to my boss and said I had a family emergency and I had to go, as I burned rubber out of the parking lot, all of these wild things are running through my head. OMG is that really my baby sunning herself at my old house? What is wrong with my mom for messing with me like that? Ooooh man!!!
So I pull into the driveway like a mad man and all I hear is a woman shrieking. What now I am thinking. I ran into the house (new owners are like family to me) and all I see is my friend swatting the floor with a broom and screaming “WHAT IS IT??” I look at her like she is insane and say “ITS MY SNAKE STOP!!!” I get down on my knees and start crawling under the desk to get her and WAP!!! She caught me right in between my pointer finger and my thumb. I swear my friend almost passed out. Baby started immediately trying to "spit me out" because it was purely a defense strike. She looked skinny and seemed shorter than usual. Well regardless I walked out of the house with my 8ft. RTB attached to my left hand and a huge SMILE on my FACE. I got my baby back!!!!
My vet gave her an IV for fluids and she ate like a pig a couple days later. The vet said that she must have hid in one of the couches. And NO my mom would not have let me break apart the couch anyway. We did sell the house semi-furnished and the couches did stay!! All went well after that.
The total time of SNAKEY MIA = 9 WHOLE MONTHS!!!
Sorry for the novel length story. Try as hard as you can to find him, but even when you give up maybe one day you will receive who you are searching for. Never did a day go by that I did not think about her.
Again I wish you luck in your tough endeavor. You will find him soon enough!!!
P.S. Move- maybe that will help. Just kidding, sorry, just kidding. LOL

Re: bp escaped!
Hehe....that's a great story, Danny! Do you still have that boa?
Liquid Snake....I wish you all the best in finding your lost snake. Don't give up!!! Look around the room again.....slowly and carefully...and if you see a single spot that you dismissed as being too small or too tight, check there!
Do you have any other pets in the house? Roaming pets, that is...like dogs or cats? If so, watching them may also clue you in to where the snake may be hiding.

Re: bp escaped!
JLC,
In response to your question on still owning her. The answer is no. Sad to say when I brought her home my mom was excited for me. But not to hot about taking care of her when I went away to college in two months. I understood her and respected her wishes. It took me almost the whole two months to find her a good home. I actually interviewed perspective adopters. Regardless of how hard it was to sift through the impulse adopters. She was mine and I wanted to make sure she went to a good home. I finally adopted her out to a gentleman who already owned about sixteen RTB already. He let me take a walk through of his house where he would be keeping her and every enclosure was immaculate. He ended up adopting her from me. I was happy that she went to a good home. After I went away to college I never saw her again. That is why Red tailed Boa Constrictors will always have a place in my heart. Soon enough I will own one. But I am interested in broadening my Ball Python collection for the time being. Sorry for the downtrodden experiences.
Liquid Snake I apologize for the hijack and wish you luck again.
-Danny

Re: bp escaped!
lol its ok. that story has given me some hope that apep might just show up out of nowhere. its been a full week now that hes been gone. i have 2 dogs that roam the house. there just as clueless as i am. ive searched everywhere. im thinkin he made it downstairs, and out the back sliding door. but i dunno. hope dwindles with each passing day. but im in love with BP's now...if apep doesnt show up in another week or two, im most likely gonna get another one. (parents are gonna kill me. They hate the it.) but once again, thanks everyone for the support! this site has truely helped! ill keep yous posted on whats happening here.
