Sending Telepathic signals to other members to get more voting results for the poll
Re: Poll:Can all the members of a species,.....
....don't make me bust out some philosophy on ya'll...lol
Since people are generally a main component of an urban ecosystem, does that mean that you share a spirtual soul with your neighbors?
Re: Poll:Can all the members of a species,.....
the bible uses "soul" in many ways. some ways meaning not having a soul as an unseen object but a person being a living soul. it uses soul to define a person as a whole entity not just a living or seperate part. you are in death as you are in life.
I wouldnt agree personally that it can be unified.
if your not a fan of the bible and find any of its teachings offensive skip what i said.
mr. mendel.......
I'll take you up on that offer, I'll pm ya!. I'd love to see what you get from all this. :D
Re: Poll:Can all the members of a species,.....
here is my question. are you meaning that tht could a small ecosystem have one some sole? each animal plant and human creating one equmulitave (sp?!) sole not each having it's own? or one eco system coming togeather as a whole each working for one another almost like a simbeotic(sp?) relatationship?
Im just trying to get the jist of the question here... dont know if I fully understand what is being asked...

Re: Poll:Can all the members of a species,.....
i dont know if anyone has posted this as i am at work and havent read it all the way (the poster may have heard of this)
but there's a rouge theory in some circles of scientists that the earth is an organism, like- say a body, and plants animals etc the cells. the way we act upon it.
that reminded me of it

I think youre talking about the Gaia hypothesis. Wikipedia comes through again! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_theory_(science)
but you do add a interesting perspective. if this were true, (ie ecosystems having souls) don't you have to also go the opposite way and say that every cell in our body has an individual soul that somehow culminate to make our soul?

it worked
As far as horses being telepathic, is it over distances or only within a herd?
If I wink at someone, I can convey a lot with a small "gesture". It may be lost on other humans from different cultures, and it would probably be entirely lost on other species as my movement could be understood as merely lubricating one of my eyes that.
I think that it is far more likely that there are movements, gestures, and other signs that we as humans don't pick up on, that horses use to convey warnings and signals.
Re: Poll:Can all the members of a species,.....
I answered Yes (some can) simply because there are no absolutes (i.e. never say never) and there are always exceptions to every rule. It's a simplistic view but, like everyone said the question was quite confusing so, I went with the first thing that "popped" in my head. Hope that helped you.
Re: Poll:Can all the members of a species,.....
This poll is almost closed.....the source of the poll question is the following article by Lee Sliver:
A Nasty Mother: think only the religious right is anti-science? How about the spiritual left?
The Scientist, July 2006.
It buried within the article and endnotes......Previously, the question was asked of Princenton undergrads.
If by chance you havent voted yet, vote then read the article if you wish.
Any other questions let me know.
