Re: Always wanted an Albino
Albino snakes can throw you off the first time or two when they shed. After that it becomes more obvious.
Re: Always wanted an Albino
Yeah, I agree with EL-Ziggy. It can take some time to figure out the albinos, especially if you haven't been keeping snakes, or especially albinos for a long time. If I recall, you are relatively new to both, especially the albino scene, correct?
As long as humidity has been good, he should have a great shed and I wouldn't sweat it. The only time to really worry is if humidity is off/low. I am really meticulous about raising humidity in shed for everyone, even my corn snakes, who probably don't need it. So I tend to mist when I know one of my snakes is going to shed and after their eyes clear.
BP: Humidity stays 55-65% normally (depending on summer or winter) but I up to 70-75% when in shed.
Boas: Humidity stays 60-70% normally (again, depending on season) but I up to 75-80% when in shed.
Corns: Humidity stays at basically whatever the room is, so anywhere from 35-40% to 60%, depending on season, but I up to 60%-65% (not more) when in shed.
Carpet Python: He has yet to shed with me, but he stays about 55-65% normal, so I figure 70-75% in shed.
Anyway, I digressed. All of the above is overkill, but that's how I am. I say meticulous, others say obsessive. Take your pick. The higher humidity can only help and cannot hurt, especially a boa, and especially for a few days.
However, if humidity is where it needs to be, he should shed great every time.
Let us know how it turns out!
Good luck.
P.S. I cannot wait to see him after his shed.
Re: Always wanted an Albino
Yes it's definitely alot harder to tell on an albino, I noticed the skin on the jaw goes baggy too, you will start to notice all the little signs soon

I’m pretty much convinced he is in shed, really hard to tell but color is dull and of corse skin is sort of wrinkled but most notably he has like an iridescent hue, really faint but similar to what my Hypo has before she sheds.
Looks like some update pics are in order after the peel.

Re: Always wanted an Albino
I was right and he shed, the coral is coming in a little more and the orange is really nice. He has settled down really well and I hope has realized I’m not going to eat him. Hard to believe I’ve had him long enough to take out of quarantine. He just ate yesterday but I will do some updates pictures tomorrow. Really an amazing looking snake and looking forward to seeing how this color and pattern progresses.
