i rarely do this with Yellow anymore; he's just too big and strong. he has a love/hate relationship with my long hair and tightens up pretty good when he goes through it. it's very sobering.

    Re: Spaghetti progression thread
had my first refusal with Spaghetti last night so now i'm all worried. it was kind of funny: heat, offer, heat, offer, heat, offer, etc. i had to leave so i placed the head into the entrance of her hide and left. i come back a few hours later to her all over her tank and the BIGGEST DUMP I'VE EVER SEEN FROM A SNAKE in her little climbing tree. i didn't know whether to be proud or not but it was massive.

i tried to check her belly for signs of shed but i was hesitant to believe what i was seeing was pink.

could her massive bowel movement have anything to do with her refusing? i also thought the weaned rat looked a bit bigger than she's used to...idk i'm just over-thinking it all now.

I'm sure it'll be be fine, just wait a little and offer again, you know? It could have been the large bowel movement, or maybe the prey was larger and she was intimidated. I'm sure it's nothing serious though.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPAGHETTI!!!!!!!!

i wish i didn't fall behind with updating the threads of my legless children. life always gets in the way...

anyway, this is from tonight after one too many refusals which i'm going to assume was from bad feeders.

so exciting when they eat. 😊https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...970680078c.jpg

    Re: Spaghetti progression thread
i need some input: last night Spaghetti struck and coiled but kinda fell half into her water dish. after she "killed" the rat she let go and dropped it into the water. she then proceeded to like, look around wondering where it went. i tried to reheat it and offer again, but she wanted no part of it, and was pacing her enclosure later seemingly hungry.

my question is: can i offer her another rat tonight? or should i wait? i know she's pretty hungry but idk if i should wait or not. any advice is appreciated!!!

as messy as it sounds, i learned to leave the prey in the water if my BP's dunk their dinner. (i also learned to remove the water bowl from smaller enclosures before feeding so there's no accidental dunks in water.) leave their dinner alone and they will most often find it again. they will drag it around, maybe get some small bits of substrate stuck and eventually eat. if the BP doesn't eat by morning, dump the water and prey. also mine will not eat a reheated, wet prey; i would have to offer another heated, non-wet prey.

u could feed her tonight if u notice her hunting but skipping a week shouldn't hurt either. :gj:

thanks for the response. i've never had a beep drop their prey in the water dish; i probably should have just left it in there. neither Yellow nor Spaghetti have ever eaten a wet prey item, and Spaghetti really wasn't fond of me offering her a wet and reheated rat. i think i'll try again tonight; i have plenty of rats that i'm trying to get rid of so i can order new stock.

    thanks again, Ax!
