Unplugging the UTH is best as long as you can get your ambient over 80, it can do without a hot side until you get a thermostat. My BP usually stays on the cool side until she is digesting food.

btw, how are your temps since you put on the lamp and towels?

I think I already mentioned it but look on amazon for the acurite 00891, it gives you a probe for the hot side and then cool temp and humidity also by placing the unit on the cool side. They are really acurite, reads same temp as my herpstats and ve thermostats and I own 11 of them lol. As far as keeping humidity in just cover the lid with aluminium foil or Plexiglas and just leave room for the heat dome. Did you place the heat dome over the hot hide? If not that is something I would personally do, just make sure to check the temp inside the hide if you do this. No matter where you have it make sure to check the temperature of top of substrate where the middle of the bulb beam hits bc that's where it will be hottest. Also you may want to cancel the order for the rheostat if your getting the thermostat, or you can keep it as back up or use for the heat lamp if your cool side temp doesn't stay within 78-82.

Yes, you would be surprised at how often they do this! I have several who will push all the bedding from one end to another just so they can lay directly on the heat source and not the bedding.

Im surprised at the personality of BPs sometimes. One of our snakes has a preferred spot for his hot hide. If you put it anywhere else, the next morning you'll find it back where he wants it, with the opening facing the direction he wants. He's going to have to start paying some bills around here if he wants to make decisions like that.

In no way is it your fault, to often are snakes bought with the seller not giving the necessary information and it's not there fault either bc they don't know either. If it was a breeder you bought from then shame on them for not telling you.

Same day shipping?! No wonder why it cost what it did lol

Also idk if anyone showed you or if you read this but here is the care sheet, I should of gave you the link earlier but read it over and fix correct anything you think is wrong or ask more questions if your unsure.
